Think that is a fair assessment of him tbh

Though think part of that, the stuff he is bad at bit, is what puzzles me the most about him playing in an inverted role.

One of the things he appears to be really bad at is being pressured and/or receiving the ball under pressure, yet we are persisting with him in a role where being excellent under pressure is pretty much a must.

Your point about needing someone to put him under pressure is a great one imo. Maybe playing Gomez as an out and out RB now and then with TAA on the bench might work as a gee up for TAA or buying someone like Geertruida from Feyenoord?
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I feel like this new formation just leaves him more exposed at the stuff he is bad at and also puts masses of additional pressure on the rest of the defence.

Look how good we looked at the back when we went more orthodox second half and that was a 4 of Trent-Matip/Quansah-Gomez-Robbo.

Yep and so was the pass VVD fired into him against Bournemouth.

Trent didn’t think so, he was assuming he’d control it and was looking for a pass when he misjudged it. Maybe they weren’t perfectly weighted or directed passes, but it’s bread and butter stuff for anyone playing above Sunday league and blaming the passes is really passing the buck imo. If he can’t receive a pass under pressure then he has no place in top flight football, but we know he can so he needs to sort himself out.

The ball from VVD put him under a lot of pressure and was a poor choice from Virg, but don't see any issue with the Salah one. Trent 100% to blame for that one, IMO.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Yep, the only ball on for Salah was the one back to Trent. He took his eye off it Stevie G style.

Formation for me - 5-3-2 with a proper ball playing centre half that can step up into the midfield will make Trent even better than he currently is - a bit more freedom
I make no apologies, this is me

The trouble with that & our current squad is you’ll have all of our fit defenders on the field at the same time basically & you’d have 3 of our 5 first choice strikers on the bench.

Then how do you gte him into a psoition where he can excel without the required defending ?

442 maybe with an out & out solid RB behind him?
