Or was watching and said "My my, such passion. Please take Camavinga, Tchoo Tchoo, and Militao in exchange for him in January."

As vice captain he needs to be thinking of the team and understand the need to give minutes to the up and coming whippersnapper.
Making it all about him smacks of petulance and selfishness.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

          Haha, would be nice.

In all seriousness, I could see his career following the same trajectory as Owen’s or Coutinho’s… he’s a rock star at Liverpool, but wasn’t exactly a key man to Southgate’s England. I know Southgate shouldn’t be used as the gold standard, but Trent was a tag along. I don’t watch enough of Madrid to know how they use their full backs etc, but I think best case scenario for him, would be being a functioning cog in the wheel. Never gonna be captain, there’s not gonna be murals, the fans won’t be singing about el scouser in the team…

Sure, he’d be more or less guaranteed to get a half dozen trophies, but he’ll never be one of the main men there. If he’s throwing strops about being subbed over there, odds are no one will even take notice.

He needs to think about what he wants his legacy to be- if he goes to Madrid he’ll almost certainly win more trophies than he would if he stays with us, but realistically, nothing he wins there, would be bigger than the trophies he’s already won with us. If he was to stay at Liverpool for more or less his whole career, his legacy will have much surpassed Gerard’s I reckon- especially if he lifts a few trophies as captain, in the next few years.

If he doesn't sign a new contract before the end of the window then I'd strip the vice captaincy off him.

100% imo if he lifts trophies as captain for us in the coming years and plays as he was before last season and part of the season prior to that.

He stays he could go down as a stone cold club legend.

He goes to Madrid and he is just another player so stacked is their squad.

Do we really want someone like that stinking the place out?

                            What a load of pish.

For all we know, he might be completely embarrassed by his reaction and the column inches it’s generated - always makes me laugh when people build entire narratives about others based on the tiny snippets they get to see.

Then he must be pretty stupid not to have foreseen it. It must be all of 3 or 4 months since the Salah/Klopp stuff blew up. These people have far too much training and experience to be caught out like that.

It still happened because of him though didn't it, so who gives a **** if he's embarrassed. So you can laugh all you want but it was completely unnecessary and created headlines the team and new manager did not need at the start of the season and with United away next
