If he goes on a free, there are a few cracking seasons worth of moments to remember him by to be fair.

Here's a thought though and might seem an odd one due to his age.....but maybe he has peaked (in a less extreme version of what happened with Dele Alli who is still only 28 yo btw) and the TAA of two, three, four etc seasons ago simply does not exist anymore over the course of a season hence the flow of assists etc drying up dramatically and the stand out games having become less and less frequent.

If he goes to Real next season I just do not see him ever being the star man there or even one of the main guys. He might be in terms of marketing and such stuff, but on the pitch he, the way he has been playing the past 2.5 seasons, will just be a Real player rather than being one of their big stars.

I look at their squad now and when I dig through it, I cannot see how he is more "needed" than say Vini Jr, Valverde, Bellingham, Tchoo Tchoo, Camavinga and Mbappe.

Real often have excellent players in their backline but they tend to be the guys that don't get the spotlight in the same way and are not seen as the stars.

With us TAA gets to be a legend even if he won less silverware. He stays and finishes his career with us and that legend only grows and becomes sometime that lasts in the city decades after he retires.

At Real, even if they win big silverware every season he is there, he will be seen as a good player and when he retires he becomes an ex Real player rather than a Real legend.

I don't begrudge him a free move to Real. It's not like the Macca or Owen situation as TAA has nothing more to prove/win with us. The other two did despite their abilities, and didn't allow us to cash in for similar talent.

Saying that I agree with doc that TAA will end up as a slightly less Real legend than Macca or Owen. Quien? Exactly.

He’s a world class generational talent. Every single game he does something no other right back can do. It will be a sad, sad day if he leaves at the end of this season.

Think what I would be doing if I were Slot is trying to get a clear anaswer from TAA as to whether he thinks he is staying around ir not, and if he says he is off or gives some "not sure" kind of answer, I would be blooding in Bradley far more often to get a better idea if Bradley looks ready to step up into the starter role.

Come December if TAA has not signed an extension, then Bradley gets an extended unbroken run and stays in the team if his form warrants it. He does not excel in that Dec to May period then look for that new RB in the summer.

Plus go rob Davies from under Real's nose as our Robbo replacement

Don't think his ability is in question though and what he has done in the past at the club is not forgotten or diminished in any way either by whther he stays or goes.

Just think that as a Liverpool born player, his legacy would be greater where he is even if he never won another medal than it would be if he spent five silverware getting years at Real.

If he goes, he goes. We have lost greats before, homegrown and otherwise, that in time get replaced by new greats, but at the same time I hope if he does go it is with the minimum of fuss and the minimum of any sour grapes/abuse/down grading of his achievements.

I do think something has changed with him though. I don't know it that is physical, mental or a combination.

His output has dropped off, his world class moments have reduced in frequency. Might well be something like what was suggested by Norbs and he simply yearns for a new challenge in which case one cannot blame a person for thinking they want to try something new (though my preference would be for him to stay and reignite on an more regular basis that spark he had on the pitch for us) as that is someone in any walk of life should be applauded for backing themselves to do.

Of course within a Slot team his output not rising to match that within a peak Klopp team could mean a very different thing as within a peak Klopp team the midfield were the work horses and a big part of the creativity and chance creation/Assist getting came from the two full backs.

Slot teams seem to go a different direction with the full backs being expected to be a bit more functional and the play going through the centre a lot more, so TAA may be getting asked to curb some of what he did in the past in favour of being more positional aware.

Think TAA is a bit more difficult to re assess at times as the standards that he himself has set in the past as so much higher than those of a lot of other players so once you get used to expecting amazing, when you "only" get good you feel it is a let down.

We could lose 300m worth of talent at the end of the season. If that turns out to be the case it's going to be far, far harder than Klopp succession.

I’d say it’s a lot less than that. Maybe 100 for Trent and 100 for the other two. Vvd and Salah need replacing soon enough as it is.

I think I would be much happier with this team than having to worry about replacing and working with Mignolet, Skrtel, Joe Allen etc etc

We didn't sign them for 300 so it won't feel like we're losing 300. With Edwards back I am confident we're going to rack up more 300 players soon. Just look at Gravo, Quanso, Chieso for a start.

Especially if they go and add someone like Davies on the other side.
Kroos is gone and Modric will prob go next year, Bellingham, Tchouameni, Camavinga and Valverde are not “creative” per se, Trent could fill that gap

Bellingham is not creative. ****ing hell, nev... he's over a goal/assist per 2 games.

Incorrect wording - Kroos was their deep lying play maker, Modric does similar. Bellingham is a 10/ false 9 for them. Trent would fill a gap in their team for passing from deep

I don’t know why but I think Bellingham is massively overrated but he’s a good knack ant getting on the end of chances like Lampard did. I also think he looks like an entitled prick.

He's definitely not, the numbers don't lie. And its not like he's trotting them out at Heerenveen. He's absolutely the generational talent people have been calling him for ages.

Real could have an unbeatable outfit for a few years so i can see why Trent would be interested.

I'll be gutted to see a 100m player walk out on a free but Real are good at this. They know they can't sign players for massive money and pay them massive wages. They'll just hand less than that money over to the player rather than the club... surprised more clubs don't do it to be honest.
