Buy back for 25m or 30 makes sense.

That way if we sell for 15m the buying club knows they will make back what they paid plus a nice premium, and from our side of it if we are looking to buy him back that means he has become a genuine top class keeper that we will be getting at what will probably be less than what market price will be in a few years time.

Selling under market value for a first choice keeper with the opportunity to buy back at a discount will probably have a regret cost of >£5m in today's money.

The buy-back clause is only valid for the duration of his contract with that club, so there is a risk there too.

All any player in that situation needs to do is run down the contract and become a free agent. I'm not sure that player having some form of binding contract with his previous club to for a buy-back would be legal or at least comply with PL/UEFA rules.

I only watched the highlights which is in no way conclusive evidence either way but they only showed him making one save & conceding 4 that I thought at least a couple were saveable . We could be looking for two backup keepers this off-season. Hope Tafarel has his feelers out.
