
Don't worry so much about portion size so much as worrying about what the portion is. Chuck as much veggies / salad in there as you humanly can. Fill up on that ****. It won't make you fat or give you reflux (well, peas, beans, carrots and toms have carbs and need moderating to a degree, but not as much as other stuff). And you'll naturally eat less of the bad **** that does cause reflux.
My secret ingredient is cauliflower. Blend it up and chuck it in your spag bols, soups, stews whatever. It pads it out, has little taste, gives a creaminess if blended fine enough, makes it more filling and is pretty much free food. It's the greatest veg ever.
And she still plays to a fairly high level in sport, if you call hockey a sport.
