So Rafa has ****ed over his beloved Liverpool?

    Banks £55m for Cavani.

Has an affinity for Pepe but only takes him on loan all the while he has this £55m burning a hole in his pocket.

    Thanks Rafa

You have to remember that Barcelona have already agreed a deal for Marco Ter Stegen for the 2014-2015 season. If Valdes extends his contract for just one more year, then they won't need Reina.

However, he'll be playing in the Champions League, featuring for a club on the rise in Serie A, and if he does well, his stock shouldn't be harmed, and maybe even enhanced.

At first, I was all 'this is terrible', but now I can see the potential benefits. If Mignolet doesn't do well, then we get Reina back the season after.

At least we'll find out if Xavi Valero really was the main reason he was one of the best keepers in England.

If Xavi can work his magic again Reina's value may even rise by next summer.

Yes it does, if Reina doesn't want to sign permanently for anyone (except perhaps for a team that doesn't want to buy him right now).

Is Athletico's keeper any good? I'm wondering if Pepe might go there next year. I'm sure he's on record as saying he wants to play for them.

Assuming we have got a loan fee and they are paying all of his wages and given he has a decent length of contract left - this could end up making us more money overall if he is sold next summer.

                    That's an interesting point.

Yes, he's very good. And on loan from Chelsea, despite Mourinho asking him to come back. So maybe Barcelona isn't the only team Reina could be holding out for.

There will always be those who justify everything the club does, but the fact is I hardly ever read anyone hear last season singing the praises of Mignolet yet now he is supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. He is not in Pepe's class yet and this season would have been perfect for him to bed into the team by winning his place ahead of Pepe not being given it by default. Who knows it would have pushed Pepe and the team would only benefit from such competition.

It is a strange move and I am still uncomfortable in our transfer policy and continued determination to scale down the finances of this club. Ultimately we will scale down the club itself if we are not too careful.

And his best mate David Villa has just signed for them as well.

                          It's very straightforward.

If it ends up being a good business decision then the owners and board are purely financially motivated and don't care about success.

If it ends up being a bad business decision then the owners and board are incompetent.

I don't know if Mignolet is good enough but I'm working on the basis that Rodgers wouldn't willingly weaken the team (not least because it wouldn't help him) and that he and his much-ridiculed committee might be better judges of goalkeepers than most - and probably all - of us here.

That's not praising everything the club does, it's just holding on to the hope that the people in charge - starting with the manager - know what they're doing and are genuine when they say they want the club to make progress on the pitch as well as off it.

Of course that hope could be misplaced but the signs in the last year have very largely been encouraging for the first time since 2009.

Everything has a risk attached, even the moneybags approach of Man City and PSG. It depends on whether you think the risks are well calculated and what timescale you're looking at.

so simple. Then there is the will of the player , he might not want to move pemanently until he knows what happens with the Barca move. I think he really wants that Barca move and I dont blame him. Valdes wont move until after the World Cup, so this is a pretty natural solution IMO.

Plus if it all goes badly then we can recall Pepe.
