Barca have Messi, Iniesta and Xavi, we don't. So I suggest that if we try to copy their style we'll come up short.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostIs he good just with just headers though? Wing play does seem so antiquated these days. How many goals have Barca scored via headers?
They tried it with Ibrahimovic but it didn't suit them.Forwards.......

Seen absolutely zero evidence to suggest that's the case. The commentators kept saying it, but didn't see it at all.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostHe did, and he got the last touch. But it was more Kolorov heading it onto his head than anything else. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I know. That's why I'm questioning his purchase, I can't see it working unless he improves dramatically - yes he's not been fit but ...Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostBarca have Messi, Iniesta and Xavi, we don't. So I suggest that if we try to copy their style we'll come up short.

He hasn't improved us since we lost Torres, my thinking just brings me to what if we'd waited until the summer to buy a replacement? Suarez alone has been massive for us.Are we winning?

Does nobody actually read the interviews with the owner or the manager?? Andy Carroll had been on our list of targets since Rafa saw him playing an U18/19 game for Newcastle.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostAbsolutely a panic buy designed to show the fans they weren't going to asset strip like the last lot.
Horrendous waste of money in wages and transfer fee. We could have had any number of better purchases across the team. Yes I know there wasn't much time, but they could have picked a far better option for the statement of intent.
The fans would have been hysterical with love for Suarez whatever
Henry himself has said in an interview the price we wanted for Torres was always Newcastle's price for Carroll plus £15 million. The fact Newcastle asked for and got 35m was because they knew we had cash coming in and knew we wanted him.
The price of a player is always what the buying club is prepared to pay.
Torres wanted out, Kenny wanted Carroll as his replacement so we went and got him, the criticism of us buying him is ****ing pathetic.
A big part of our improvement after Christmas was the positivity and everyone pulling together (supporters, players and staff) Carroll may have been in and out of the side through injury but his signing showed intent.
Everything is connected, there is no way we would have recovered like we did if we sold Torres for 50m and brought in Suarez for half that amount (when he was signing for us anyway) because this forum and many others like it would have been full of ****ing ****s saying "same old ****ing yanks, not spending the money"
It doesn't matter what LFC does some people will ****ing moan about it.
Andy Carroll a ****ing panic buy?? it's called seizing the moment and showing intent, showing the PL that Kenny is back in charge and we are going to be a competitive team again.
Let's see how many fans think he was a panic buy at the end of next seasonLast edited by The Birdman; 23-05-11, 10:25 AM.The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

really!! i think it's pretty clear carroll touched...the defender gets a touch, but it comes clearly off carroll and into the top corner -
Had carroll, not jumped/challenged for it the way he did, it would never have gone ini own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I questioned this fact on the night he scored that goal, but everyone was convinced he had the last touch, i just put it down to my aging eyes.
Whatever happened, it was'nt a brilliant header, it was a flukey goal at best if he did get the last touch, but for sure the defender did head it at some point.
Regardless though, i'm sure he has scored superb headers while at Newcastle, and i don't think his heading ability is in doubt from what certain people in the game say anyway, lets hope they're right.
my eyes are better than i thought....get the **** in...

I dont think that was a great chance thoughOriginally posted by Reece View PostThe header he scored against Citeh?
Good ball in but the defender was in front of Carroll and favourite to get it but Carroll did really well to beat him to that ball
The Spurs chance was a ****ing sitter mind youBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

can't believe people are really moaning about carroll...
Harsh imo - seems sometimes thought there is just no pleasing people - had we sold torres, signed no other striker, and then come the summer lost out on carroll to spurs - we'd all be moaning.
I think the main issue is the price....yes everyone agrees that £35m is ott - but in hindsight £50m for torres is a dreadful signing....as is the £30m for dzeko or whatever it was.
Imo - carroll has the attrributes and raw ability to become a top centre forward - if it goes well, he gets fit, gets the service, and gets the goals - potentially we could have our centre forward sorted for the next 10 years - which makes £35m a bargain.
Now for me - i really liked the look of carroll - and i felt that £15m would have a been a great deal for him - young and english with potential, means most players like that are valued at £10m before they even kick a ball in the first team.
the reason the price inflated was that it was a late deal in the january transfer window and we'd just got £50m for torres.
Yes maybe there was a slight bit of panic in it...but so what...at least we took the gamble and went for it. - i'd much rather that than us stall over it, miss out and then regret it later on.
He also is a striker that clearly needs some quality service - something that we have zero off, the one decent cross for him to attack (whether he touched it or not
) he/we scored from.
Lets get him fit, lets get some quality players with pace and creativity around him, and lets get behind the lad and support him - lets judge him when he is fit, playing with Gerrard/Suarez/Hazard and Young supplying him.
It's almost as if some people want him to fail....so they can turn round and slag the new owners/comoli/anyone just for the sake of moaningi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

35m is irrelevant but. He cost that because he was a last minute buy in Jan. It's hardly his fault or something he should be judged for.Originally posted by Lee View PostHe's had a stop-start with his injuries. I think he'll be a good signing for us - whether he'll be worth the £35m we paid for him only time will tell.
