I've sat on the fence about the Carroll signing so far as I want to give him time. Said before that he'll come good (whether he'll be a £35m signing is another matter)... but I'm worried. Really worried.

Same here mate. His techinque is so, so poor. His touch and control is woeful at times. The positive way to look at it is that this is clearly the biggest flaw in his game, and surely this is something Kenny and the rest of the coaching staff will be working on every day.

He doesn't need to develop to Suarez-like levels - he just needs to be able to control a football so that he can give himself a clean strike on goal.

He was not very good today, hopefully it's a confidence thing. He's sluggish, poor technique and general awareness. Cracking shot & goal though, he does have this.
          Are we winning?

All i would say is look at his age and hope

How many of the top strikers in the world mature at such an early age?

              I think he has potential.

Maybe setting the bar somewhat high...

Still, I think he will come good. And as long as Suarez is banging them in for fun whilst Andy finds his feet (quite literally sometimes) it seems we can look forward to the best of both worlds.

Its early days for the 2 of them, Suarez has played 16 times for us scoring 7. Big Andy 12 games 3 goals. I also think Gerrard coming back will help Andy.

Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful

He's got the potential to be very very good for us. But right now he looks a bit lazy and unprofessional. He needs to up his game and sort out his effort

Carroll: Great to be off the mark

Andy Carroll admitted he was delighted to get off the mark in the Carling Cup success over Exeter City - and then saluted the display of strike partner Luis Suarez.

The big No.9 came off the bench to thunder home the third of the night after Suarez and Maxi Rodriguez had put the Reds in the driving seat.

The hosts did pull a goal back late on through Daniel Nardiello's penalty but it was not enough to deny Carroll and co the 3-1 victory that puts them in the hat for round three.

Carroll said: "It was nice to get off the mark. We all played well today and all of the lads who got the goals did great. I thought Exeter did well too so all round it was a good day for everyone.

"It was important to come down here and get a result. We always knew it was going to be tough."

Asked about the impact of Suarez who netted one and made two, Carroll added: "He's been great. Obviously everyone knows what he is about and he showed it again tonight."

Meanwhile, midfielder Charlie Adam felt Liverpool got their reward for naming a strong line-up for the clash with the League One outfit.

Adam said: "You could see with the players that played tonight that we were here to do a job and we did that. It was always going to be a difficult game but we showed Exeter the right respect and we did our job.

"We've got good players who we know will play well together. We are getting there. That's two wins on the bounce and we can now look forward to Saturday
