Nice try, but i'm not twisting anything.Originally posted by vlahka View PostAgain, twitsing my words. I said I wish we could make as much noise as them every single game. They were 1 example of a loud home support. There are plenty of other teams that do it. Liverpools home crowd, majority of games, are considered to be asleep. We seem to only wake up for big games or european games.
You said "If only every game we could sound half as impressive as the UTD supporters who scream non stop every game."....i literally laughed out loud when i read it, and then looked for white text. That's how absurd i found the notion that United fans are 'impressive' and 'scream non stop'.
Old Trafford is like a ****ing library 90% of the time.
It's a bit like saying "If only we could be a solid defensively as Arsenal this season".

Well there must be something wrong with my tv as I always hear them screaming away and I always hear ours only yell now and then. Commentators have said we sound like a library so theres no way you're going to tell me we're louder.
Also very nice trying to deflect away from my main point.

There is also no way a crowd under 45k is louder then a crowd of 80k. Not possible.Last edited by vlahka; 21-09-11, 08:09 AM.

Those are some impressive stats. Although I have noticed the crowd did get louder since Kenny took over. But before him we were definitely quiet.
But my main point was no amount of cheering will make an average player better. As mentioned before I do cheer Carroll on, but he's not right for Liverpool.

It's not about making an average player better, it's about supporting the players, giving them a lift, helping give them more belief and confidence and acting as a little extra motivatior for them. Whereas getting on their backs, moaning etc, just dissolves what little confidence may be left.Originally posted by vlahka View PostThose are some impressive stats. Is it any wonder the fans were quiet after the 2 years of **** we went through? Love him or not, the deposal of Rafa was a huge & draining process, when the football suffered big time & we lost a lot of our best players. THen there was Bodge- not sure I need say more.
At that stage for most of us, it was a real effort to even turn on the telly, let alone turn up & cheer. We were worn down & our club no longer felt like our own.
I did think Anfield is a lot quieter than it should be even before the wheels came off, but I think you could say that about most clubs.
Btw, why is it ok to say we should be as loud as (you believed) the Scum (to be?) on one hand & then say "There is also no way a crowd under 45k is louder then a crowd of 80k. Not possible."?3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Are fans at the game getting on the players backs?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostIt's not about making an average player better, it's about supporting the players, giving them a lift, helping give them more belief and confidence and acting as a little extra motivatior for them. Istanbul was different. We knew the players on the field could play. We'd seen them do it before. The crowd helped them a lot but they also had performed for us many times. I'm still playing Carroll in the same area as Ngog, the same area as Keane. No matter how much cheering we do, I dont believe he will improve much. Thats my outlook, you're free to think otherwise and expect him to become a huge star for us. I'd like that to happen. We'll see at the end of the season.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostIt's not about making an average player better, it's about supporting the players, giving them a lift, helping give them more belief and confidence and acting as a little extra motivatior for them. But like I mentioned before, the torrent of abuse poor Garcia got from the fans gives me the right to comment on a player who is not performing and not up to our standard, in my opinion.
Honestly its a little surprising when you take in to account the amount of people. But I'd rather not get into this one. I mean you can point out we are the loudest. Thats probably something to do with singing YNWA I'd say. Loudest is one thing, consistently chanting and singing with fewer pauses is another thing. Its like two separate comparisons.Originally posted by PC Plod View PostBtw, why is it ok to say we should be as loud as (you believed) the Scum (to be?) on one hand & then say "There is also no way a crowd under 45k is louder then a crowd of 80k. Traore, Smicer, Cisse, Kewell, Baros....all were proven stars at Liverpool, who had records of delivering, did they?
That's half a team right there, who were unproven or not considered good enough.
And dont put words into my mouth mate, i never said Carroll will be a 'huge star'. I've just said it's far too early to form a judgement on him when he's played so few games, not been 100% fit, yet to settle and is only a kid.

Im surprised some people havent learnt there lesson.
2 years ago, Craig, myself and a small handful of people were the only ones on here supporting Lucas. The rest said he was ****, not LFC material (whatever that supposed to be btw) he wasnt good enough to clean the **** off Mashers boots etc etc etc. Fast forward two years and the same gob****es who slated him on here and in the stands wouldnt dream of starting a game WITHOUT him. In fact Ive seen a few panicking in case he gets an injury. Now its not the fact that we havnet got cover, its the fact that he is genuinly a top top player.
I have every confidence that the big fella will do the business in time just like I and a couple of people did with Lucas. Like Craig has said so many times, the lad is 22 years old. Played just over a dozen games for us and has come back from a bad injury. The more pressure people stick on his young shoulders, the longer it will take to bed him in.
If we just let him get on with what we know he can do and ****ing forget about how much he cost then he will eventually become a great player for us.That's my new book. 'Shut the **** Up, by Dr. Denis Leary'. Patients come in. 'Doctor I-' Shut the **** up! NEXT!! 'Doctor, I've got this-' SHUT THE **** UP!! NEXT! 'He made me feel so much better. He just told me to shut the **** up. Nobody ever told me that before!'
