This is the thing with Utd, Fergie's 1st choice team contains VDS (retiring) Ferdinand (injury prone) Giggs (37) Scholes (36) Berbatov (31/32)
Then below that they have Brown, Evans, Obertan, Bebe, Gibson etc... Rooney looks completely disinterested, his only class moment of the season came off his shin.

I've been saying for 6 months or so football goesnin cycles and there's is rapidly ending
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Clearly their best player this year and imo the only world class footbaler (aside from being biggest cheat, cunt, drama queen etc.) they presently have.
Nani is their best player but he is not a world class player for me, doesn't do enough week in week out.

I think he always had a great ability but this is the first year that he has been fairly consistant (for his standards). He's the difference maker and without him they would be a half of team they are.

Has had decent ability but for me world class - no.

Better player at United for me is Valencia who they've missed big time this season

I see Valencia as one dimensional player and his is not scoring threat whatsoever.

Nani, on the other hand, can beat you in many different ways and even though I cannot stand him is a very, very good player.

Been waiting for United's decline for a long time now buddy..and they're still winning trophies.

Agree though, there's defo a bit of rebuilding for Fergie to do come the summer.

Valencia's a good player but not top class...solid back up maybe but shouldn't be a starter week in week out.

Agree about Nani, he's come on leaps and bounds and is getting better. One of their best players now.

Think United have missed Park a little bit too.

That's nothing. I'm curreently the biggest leftback in world football. If I could run I'd stop the wingers playing, but all I can do is throw some of my pies at them as they go by.

                        Forgot about Park

Their squad is definitely weaker than it has been for a long time and the summer signings (Hernandez apart) werent up to scratch

I actually think United should have sold Rooney in the summer and totally rebuilt their squad with the proceeds

Not sure they are going to get megabucks for Rooney now his form has been shocking and the FFPR are probably going to bring the transfer prices down a touch
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

                          Good shout on Park

I completely forgot about him as well. Pretty good player and they are definitely weaker without him.

Yep, Park's a tidy little player. Pops up with important goals for them.

Always hate seeing him on the United team-sheet.

Andy Carroll will be a wonderful asset to Liverpool FC - former Newcastle boss Chris Hughton

Former Newcastle boss Chris Hughton says Andy Carroll will give Liverpool a major new weapon as Kenny Dalglish bids to rebuild the Reds and bring back the glory years to Anfield.

Hughton, controversially sacked by the Magpies, helped Carroll develop into the talent which saw Livepool splash a record £35m upon him after wantaway striker Fernando Torres departed for Chelsea at the end of January.

Hughton, who watched Carroll make his debut as a 74th minute striker in Liverpool's emphatic 3-1 victory over United yesterday, believes Carroll and Luis Suarez can become a potent force in the Premier League for years to come.

Hughton believes Carroll's height in particular will add another dimension to the Anfield strikeforce.

Hughton said: “Andy Carroll most definitely needs the service and what his signing gives them up front is different types of players.

“People have asked me about my thoughts on Andy going to Liverpool and I think it’s a wonderful buy for them.

“He’s a young player that doesn’t have any fear in his game, he’s had a wonderful season so far.

He’s developed his game and I think he’ll be a wonderful asset for them.”

Hughton also praised Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez for his immediate contribution to the Liverpool cause since signing from Ajax on the same weekend as Carroll. Suarez scored on his debut against Stoke and has dazzled already, becoming an instant hit with the Kop.

Added Hughton: “Suarez looks like he’s got a massive point to prove, that he can play in this division and he’s worthy of that price tag. I thought he was excellent.

“Martin Jol who worked with him at Ajax and knows him very well. He rated him very highly but he spoke mostly about his goalscoring ability. The different types of goal he can score.

“I think the thing that I’ve seen in him mostly in the last couple of games is his work ethic, his real desire and he looks really excited about the prospect of playing in the Premier League and of course playing for Liverpool.”

Andy Carroll helps out ladies team with kit

ANDY Carroll may have left the Toon, but for one Tyneside ladies team his name is never far from their minds.

When Rutherford Ladies FC in Gateshead were struggling for sponsorship they didn’t know where to turn.

But then the former Magpies striker stepped in with £500 to pay for kits for the entire side.

The Gateshead-born forward, who transferred to Liverpool for £35m in January, has also donated signed shirts and footballs to be auctioned off to raise proceeds for the team.

Now the ladies proudly wear strips with “Sponsored by Andy Carroll” on the front when they play in the Durham County Women’s League.

Manager Sara Coxon said: “Not many teams can say they are sponsored by a £35m striker, so we are delighted to have Andy’s support.

“We were desperate for a sponsor and Andy was so kind to step in and help, he didn’t have to do that but he was more than happy to.”

Carroll has been known to drink in the team’s social club in Lobley Hill, Gateshead, and the star’s brother is a regular.

Sara, 23, said: “When the players step out with Andy Carroll on their shirts it gives them a big boost. It makes us feel like we’re on the winning side before we’ve even kicked a ball.

“Some of the other teams can’t believe we are sponsored by such a big star and I think some of them are a little jealous too.

“We’re hoping to get him to come and give us a training session when he has time.

“It would be great for the team to get some tips from someone so talented.

“We are fifth in the league at the moment, but with Andy’s help I think we could push further up the table.

“The girls were gutted when he moved to Liverpool but we wish him all the best. He was so talented, it was only a matter of time before he was snapped up.

“He has had a bit of a bad press, but this just shows what a nice person he is. We can’t thank him enough for helping us out.

“People criticise footballers for the wages they earn, but they don’t have to help people out like Andy has done.

“When he has given us signed shirts and footballs, we can auction them for quite a lot. But it also attracts more people to fundraisers we hold, so we make more that way too.”

Carroll, 22, came on as sub for his debut in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Manchester United yesterday.

Sara wants to attract more talent to the club in Lobley Hill, which currently has 20 players.

She said: “We’re always on the lookout for more players, so any girls over 16 who want to play should get in touch with the club.”
