    Nutted the burglar didn't he?

I said this on deadline day, think a few people were of the same mindset. Ferguson was probably a bit quicker.

Problem for Carroll is that he's not an individual player who can make things happen on his own, he needs service. We've been spoiled with Torres and Suarez as they can create things out of nothing on their own.

Carroll is a different player but under the right set up can be as usefull as Suarez to our cause. We better make sure we get the right players in this summer or poor old Carroll will struggle to get going.

He's not yet match fit, tbh I'm not even bothering with judging him until next season when he will hopefully get some decent service.

But it should also be noted he's not even completed one year in the premier league, he's still learning and he will have ups and downs.

Absolutely. He is a dead duck in our current set up. If we attract right players and provide him similar or better type of support he had at Newcastle he'll be the player we all are hoping to see.

Who or what do you sacrifice in order to accommodate him though? I'd understand if we were looking to accommodate Messi but Carroll building a team around an unproven player sounds totally mental.

Ince still had to have the last push of the head.. Just to show he was hard, too.

Girly push anyway by 'Duncan', haha, 'Duncan'! Ince was already moving in the direction 'Duncan' (haha) pushed him, easy move to pull off.

Then why didn’t we wait until the summer and buy him at a realistic price? I know his injury turned out worse than expected, but I could never understand why we rushed the deal through.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Panic I think - with the Torres stuff going on I think we wanted to make a statement - imagine we'd let Torres go and hadn't bought in Carroll or someone else, FSG would be being compared to H&G and noises about asset stripping etc... would have been doing the rounds in the media and certainly some fans.

Having already bought Suarez, you’d have through that other areas could do with strengthening first.

Ahh well, hindsight is a great thing.

I think we rushed it because FSG needed to spend money now rather than later due to fair play rules, to still keep us competitive on all fronts and to send the clear message to the public, squad and fans that FSG mean business.

Buying Carroll wasn't the problem (even though the price tag seems astronomical for the young and upcoming footballer). The problem was that the other potential signings Comolli identified such as Adam and Young didn't happen. If they did we probably would have been able to see different Carroll that what we have seen so far.

That's a fair point, had forgot about that.

yeah thats very true, I think the Jan window that there were clear signs of intent in terms of bringing in new players which is a good thing, problem was Jan is a shocking month to do so
