Carroll will end up being a plan B in my opinion but it can be very useful thing to have. He's certainly better than he has shown so far. I do expect him to improve but it won't be to the level of say peak Torres. I also think opinions and feelings are a lot more split about him than you make out.
The best Andy can hope to be is the level of peak Heskey.

I agree with you that many of our fans still hope that Andy may come good but what I was trying to say was that when he is sold there will be relief because the constant bickering between fans (of which I am guilty) will be over. Also when AC goes it will free up wages and transfer money to bring in a striker who suits our style of play and is right for the club.

00-01 Heskey would be pretty useful right now.

          Not at all

If he goes it will be for many reasons, some of his own fault no doubt

However that doesnt mean I will be relieved when he is gone, I may look back on the deal with regret rather than any kind of relief

Just because you feel that way about Carroll doesnt mean you speak for the rest of us

I seem to recall that at the end of Aquilani's first season that him being at (or very near) the top of the assists was used to try to say he was a success (but I guess that's another story)

PS - I would like to clarify that I agree with everything else that you are saying, I'm just surprised that you are so critical of Suarez
Yes statistics can skew things but even when I watch the games I tend to be disappointed

Hes an exceptional talent but he could be so much better than he is if his decision making was better

Maybe its more born out of frustration rather than out and out criticism of him. Hes a better player than Carroll so my expectation levels are extremely high and when he makes a wrong decision be it in front of goal or in whether to pass or shoot it hits a nerve

Whereas I have little expectation with Carroll so when he invariably fails I experience less of a disappointment

I made the exact same point earlier.

I cannot see him being the first choice striker now or in the future but good option coming from the bench.
