I would have been one of them.

Not so much better but Downing was player of the year and converted quite a few Villa fans during his time there. Young always had more potential, question was whther it would be realised.

We saw the perfect microcosm of him vs Wales. Choked once or twice but eventually delivered a match winning pass.

It's hard to say who is better, Downing or Young. I think Young will have his purple patch for Man Utd then fade slightly further into the season whereas Downing will be consistent throughout. I think that for Liverpool Downing is the better fit though. I'm glad he is here.
