He's looked good against Stoke, and scored last night, but he's got an awful long way to prove himself worth staying beyond the summer.

We need our squad players to deliver stable performances, and excel when needed. So far, it's two games. For all we know, he's also playing to attract as big a club as possible for his services, since we haven't opened talks about a new deal. I'd still sell him.

He also played well against Soton when we battered them.

Seems to do well in a midfield three and gets up to the pace of the game quickly when as a sub.

Deffo looks to have improved under Klopp and good to have on the bench.

The same is true about Firmino

His best performances have come when hes played against the likes of Arsenal, City etc..

When it comes to the nitty gritty of scrapping and fighting I'm not sure either Allen or Firmino will dig you out of a hole

It definitely is but I think Firmino will learn how to use his strength more in the PL and be dangerous against all types of teams next season.

Allen can't be the deep, central defensive midfielder, sitting in front of the defence. I don't think Klopp likes someone there, his midfielders cover a lot of ground, hunting in packs. With the build of a small boy, Allen just needs muscle around him to handle the bigger players, and he's looked out of his depth when sitting in front of the defence, attacked by larger, more physical players. He's excellent for retaining possession and moving the ball around the midfield.

When he takes the ball off the centre halves and is pressured is when he really appears to struggle. Happened a lot under BR - or it seemed to.

Looks much better when he's played higher up, done ok recently to be fair to him but has a long way to go. Loved him for that goal!

one of the things i really dislike about allen is the way he will play a pass to someone out wide, like moreno, then rather than hang around to support him and give an option when he is closed down he then goes trotting off up the pitch and stands around the edge of the arsenal box. moreno is under pressure and struggling to keep the ball, never mind find a player near the goal are.
he is happy to play a little five second cameo then leave some team mate in the **** with no option.

You want him to stand still so they can play it back and forth while we're a goal down? There is a responsibility on other members of the team to make themselves available. Without movement we'd never break down teams. If Allen goes forward and takes a man with him that creates a space for another person to receive the ball without being marked.

Indeed, if he's moved forwards to create space then support also needs to come from elsewhere. There is a lot of moaning about lack of movement and not being able to break teams down, stuff like that from Allen is going to help us far more creating chances especially when a goal down than as you say stand there and interchange nice little 1-2s.
