Ffs, if you think he's a WUM why bother even responding to him?? It's just boring. Just leave it and maybe, if he isn't for real, he'll get bored and leave!

FWIW I think both RedChili and Hooz have strong arguments - you guys should just agree to disagree on this one.

Amazing the way the lying backstabbing runt can polarise the opinions of Liverpool fans like nothing else.

Whether or not he can stay clear of injuries remains to be seen, but at £9m it is a risk well worth taking.
bull****. i don't want that little **** near our club ever again, he ****ed us royally and does not deserve another chance simple as. he dragged us along for a long time promising this and that. he didn't want to stay, and rafa doesn't like to keep players that want to leave, and why should he, let the little midget rot away somewhere else, i don't want him being injured on the sideline using us to get fit for the next england game on our salary that little **** can **** right off...

Can't be arsed going over this again, but I think you're wrong.

In fact, the bit from me that you quoted is pretty much what I would have said in response.

i've read most of what you have said in this thread, and i think most of it is pretty wrong to say the least, you can have your opinion i'm not trying to convert you, but i think the little ****er is a ****, and if benitez hadn't sold him he would have gone on a bosman for free, our hands were tied du to the fact he didn't want to sign a new contract and was begging real madrid to come and get him, we were in no position to negotiate, he had little left on his contract so it was either 8 mill now or nothing next summer. Parry made a foolish error when he trusted the 'saint' when he said he would sign, owen shoul have been sold a year earlier when we were in a position to negotiate, but by saying he would sign, and drag the nogotiation well over a year he ****ed us over and cost us millions, so yes i think he's a ****, and id have big problem with ever supporting him in read again. i don't want his name associated with this great club ever again cause he doesn't deserve it...

thats simply how i feel about the situation...

I don't expect much from Voronin, I'd be happy to be proved wrong, but I won't hold my breath.

To dismiss Owen as a 'passenger' but get a hard on for Voronin is the height of idiocy.

I'm not saying Owen is a 'messiah', but he is a better finisher than any of our current strikers and for £9M I think he's a worthy gamble.

Allow me to explain........... Voronin is a Liverpool player so gets our support, Owen obviously is not, so doesnt

so it appears we are idiots for supporting our players

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

No, you're an idiot for letting what team you support obscure your judgement of a player. Owen is MILES better than Voronin.

Supporting a player is quite different from ignoring all evidence that suggests he is not really that good. It's blind faith and it's incredibly naive.

There is obviously a lot more to the whole Owen saga than we all know about.
I know he said he would sign a new contract, but he isn't going to if the conditions aren't right. None of us on here know what these conditions were, or even if a contract was offered.
What we do know is that LFC were going nowhere in GHs last season and who would have thought that Rafa would have had the impact he did?
Owen had always said he wanted to play abroad, so for him, it was the ideal time to go. And ultimately, every player will do what's best for themselves.
At Real, he was out of favour from the start, even though he scored a good number of goals. The fact that he is a model pro seemed to have worked against him because at RM they like their players to have a bit of flair, on and off the pitch.
He clearly wasn't happy at Real and I remember hearing an interview for him during the transfer window saying that if he wasn't going to play for RM then it would be liverpool, another time he said he only wanted to play for Liverpool. Again, none of us know whether we made a bid or not, but with it being in a World Cup year, who would want to risk sitting on the bench all season and jeopordise their chances of playing in a World Cup?
He moved to Newcastle because they were the only team that met RM valuation of him. Real didn't need the money so they were never likely to settle for our bid if MO had sat tight.
Also, the fact he actually had a release clause in his contract shows he never wanted to go there in the first place and just wanted to get one good season (that back-fired) and do enough to convince Rafa that we should take him back. All this on top of him wanting to be closer to his family.
