The way I heard it is that Mascherano is desperate to stay with us. DESPERATE.
But he wants his future sorted now. The club is unwilling to sit down with him and offer him anything until the summer - going back on promises made to him. He has been after a deal for ages, and was prepared to forego some of his own cash to stay.
As this looks unlikely at the present time, he's prepared to look for other clubs. United would not be discounted, if they came knocking. It's still all up in the air though, but it looks like the club are baulking at paying such a large fee for a central midfielder, when we are already well stocked in this area.
I think Mascherano's game is best suited to the PL. It could be he thinks so too.Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it

My concern is what message does it send out if we do **** it up? And even worse if he does end up at Man U (which personally I dont think he would do but stranger things have happened) then there's no way we can have pretences of bieng a big club in Man U's league. They spent some £30m in the summer on central midfielders, plus another £18m the season before on Carrick, and now possibly £17m on Mascher, probably because we can't afford him. We'll never compete with them on them field if they're going to keep on trumping us off it.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostSurely not.
The Mancs were after him for quite a while when he was with River and later Corinthians. A lot of their supporters were banking on him being their player sooner or later.
Us signing him put Ferguson's nose right out of joint, demonstrated by his bitter outburst when he complained about how we'd managed to wangle his signing.
The only temptations I can see for Masher in signing for those horrible *******s would be linking up with Tevez again and, of course, remaining in the north-west.
If he's got anything about him, though, he wouldn't even entertain the idea. ****ing United my arse. If we **** it up, I'm still convinced he'll end up at Barca.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

If this is the case then the ball must be in Rafa's court. Its gonna come down to what he wants. I think we all know Momo is the weakest of the midfield players so it looks like Rafa has to make a choice on which midfiel player has to make way so for me its either Momo or Mascherano. I know who Id choose.Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie, put your hands all over my body.

Is this new info Maestro?
I recall a post several weeks ago where you stated much of the above ie how desperate he was to stay & how desperate Rafa was to keep him but the Chief wanted to sort his future out sooner than later. Have things gone badly downhill since then & if we are going to leave it until the summer to sort it out, is it likely he will do a deal with someone else beforehand?
My tuppenceworth is that Rafa wants to keep him but G&T won't pay out as there is a distinct possibility that Rafa won't be there in the summer and they don't want to spend so much on someone who may not be in the next manager's plansAt a football club there's a holy trinity- the players the manager and the supporters, Directors dont come into it, they are only there to sign the cheques " - Bill Shankly

Or is Mascher a liar too? Can we trust no one. And in that case, do we want a player at our club who is only here for money, and would happily jump ship to united at the drop of a hat?

Totally agree.Originally posted by Rocket View Postsorry fella, you are usually a decent poster, and only a few days ago, you were talking about getting behind the team.
this post is embarressing, you are starting to sound like all those mancs who protested when Glazer took over, look how stupid they looked when the Mancs won the league.
It's yet another in a long line of posts by those who claim to have contacts, but who don't state any facts.
No melodrama eh? It was melodramatic post from start to finish, without evidence.
Usually said person would be mocked openly and rightly so, but in this case it's someone who we know has posted in good faith, a poster just about everyone who was on KopTalk respects, and in this case that's what makes it sad for me.I hate Polanski

Yes he's a good player, but he plays a position in which we really don't need to be spending £10m plus on.
I still think we'll sign him, but we'll wait until June when we can sell Sissoko.I hate Polanski

If the economic situation has changed, like with the stadium changes perhaps?Originally posted by PC Plod View PostWhy is going back on promises being sensible?
Not saying I want it to happen, just that sensible economic approaches must come first.
