However if G&H fail to get this refinance they are in deep sh!t and DIC may then get the club for a song

If they had absolutely no interest in the club they would have refuted one of the various stories of their interest over the last few weeks

Lastly I will say this I dont want Rafa sacked BUT I would gladly sacrifice him if it meant getting rid of our current owners

These are the bits I can't argue with. I think they are watching and waiting to see if G&H can't get the finances sorted. If they get them sorted we will never know if DIC were ready but if there is a problem I would be suprised if they or someone else doesn't jump at a chance of getting the club on the cheap.

My wife works in a stockbrokers in Liverpool and her bosses are convinced that DIC are circling like sharks waiting for Gillett & Hicks to start bleeding

At the moment they think its finely balanced regarding the re-financing BUT one thing that has been said a few times is even if G&H get the loan they will need CL football next season no matter what

If that doesnt happen "they are buried"

Agreed. A top class club like LFC is an absolute blue chip investment over the medium to long term given its untapped potential. The yanks dont have appear to have the $$ or the right management in place to capitalise on this it seems.

G&H didn't have any business plan whatsoever and it looks like they still don't.

They take it day by day by the look of it.

How can you show up a fancy new super stadium without first having secured the funds to build it?

You show up the stadium plans when you are 100% sure that you will build it or you will look like idiots.

They are after one thing and one thing only, money and don't care a bit about the club.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Well, G&H must hope that Torres stays fit then, or else they are buried because if he gets injured a month or two then we won't be playing in the CL next season. No wonder that they moaned when Torres was "rested" for one game.

i hope the americans sell. DIC would have the cash to fund the new stadium and cash for transfers which it looks like the americans are struggling to do. my only worry would be the change a change in management. its only a pipe dream anyhow.

I've got to the point of almost hoping we finish 5th because then it would be the final nail in their coffin

Dont be naive, no business plan indeed

Of course theyre after money, theyre businessmen, do you think they bought the club because of their deep-rooted love for it?

Anybody who buys us, DIC or if it stays in the same hands, they'll all be looking for a return on their investment at some stage because thats all it is to businessmen, an investment, nothing more.
What we DO have in our favour is that the club is an institution with huge untapped potential due to the marketing mismangement of recent years.

If the financial/marketing side is kicked into shape and managed professionally alongside a brand new stadium then the earnings that any owners could make are enormous, without taking into consideration the sell-on value in a few years.
Whether its H & G that do it remains to be seen, but its ridiculous to suggest that businessmen at that level take on an investment and fly by the seat of their pants when it comes to managing it.

The problem with that is that it would probably spell the end for Rafa as well, assuming he actually stands a chance of staying.

I'm against the whole trial by media circus mentality that normally follows any sort of scandal. However I am starting to turn aainst the American, not because of any business incompetance that has been reported, but because the club is becoming the equivilant of a page three girl. We are simply becoming some tart with her tits out in the tabloids for everyone to look at and the embarrasment that this is causing is totally unacceptable.

I would hope that any regime that ends up in ultimate control would be able to conduct itself with a level of professionalism and dignity in order to avoid muddying our good name. Whether I would invite short term failure is another matter entirely.

(I also assume that your comment was sorta tongue in cheek though so don't take this as a dig at yourself)

I wonder if Rafa and the players know about the situation G&H are in?

Maybe Rafa has a chance to keep his job if DIC takes over the club, he is definitely out if G&H stays IMO.

If you lose or draw a few games then you are safe but if you win them then you are out. Interesting scenario.

I wonder what Rafa would do in a situation like this?

I agree. I also think that the CIA killed John Lennon, there was a second gunman and that Hitler is alive and well in Argentina (and is currently enjoying his morning ride on Shergar before his afternoon card game with Lord Lucan and Ritchie Edwards)
