      Compare that against Torres
I have no idea why im getting in this so much, but again, i disagree - he was much quicker than he is now and used to walk past players as i remember it, he was class. and looked good for more than just one season where he scored plenty of goals.... whatever - im bored at work - its very likely hes going anyway so lets agree to disagree.

for the 17 million in wages recieved he should have the good grace to keep himself fit in the reserves just in case imo.
Well Rafa should tell him he might be required in that case. If he isn't going to play 1st team and not getting a new contract, why keep him here?

I think Harry is just trying to see if he has any chance of playing at all. If he has and Rafa wants him to stay, of course he will. If Rafa lets him go, its pretty obvious he doesn't have any future here at all including this season.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

well as long as the aussies pick up his wages then, there is NO WAY he should be getting 60,000 a week when he's not even in the country, ready for the call.

for what its worth i really thought harry would do well for us, looked genuine quality at leads, and his 1st season (up till christmas) he was scoring good goals but since then, injuries and form have taken there toll and he's been dog ****. goodbye harry.

Mr V, wherther you think Kewell is the worst player ever to wear the red shirt or not, this attack seems way over the top, and almost personal. I'm of the opinion that not all players have to do everything like tackle fiercely every time, or beat ten men EVERY time before scoring. The only thing we can be critical of players for is attitude, and I dont see a problem with Harrys attitude to be honest. Here is a player who , although slower than a couple of years ago due a terrible run of injuries, is one of the more intelligent men on the pitch. If you look at his overall game play you'll see that he spends a lot of his time linking defence into attack from wide positions. Harry knows he cant skip past players at willanymore, so hisgame has adapted. Trouble is, a lot of fans havent adapted, so they see his name and expect a flying winger, and then get frustrated when he isnt.
Your slagging the man off for being injured, why? And god forbid getting paid while he recovers, hope you never get ill while in work. And his laughing at West Ham, so what? Game over, and you have no ides why he was laughing, or what mood he was in.Just because what you sawsomeone do didnt match your mood is no reason to be aggressive about it.
Like most here I would think his time has come at Liverpool, but if he does I'll be sorry to see him go without having the sustained run of form we (and he) wanted.
One last thing, youd've hated Ray Kennedy mate, nice 'n' slow, made it look easy the way he played, and took a lot of stick from the crowd at times. Hard to believe now, but some things dont change eh?

              **** it, here's my story.

1996 I returned from Adelaide after 10 years to my home town in the country. I made some new friends, one of which was a lifelong LFC supporter and would always watch them and football in general when it was on. Myself, I hated football and quite often told football supporters it was played by poofo pansie's and was not interested. I was niave.

However by 97-98, my friend told me to have a look at this young Aussie playing for Leeds, Harry Kewell. Now I should point out that I am a mad sports lover, always have been and love an Aussie battler winning against the odds. I was taken by this guys talent however I was learning the game at this point and over a couple of years became a fan of the game aswell.

However by this time I was a Harry Kewell fan. His time at Leeds was "world class". He had times when returning from injury when he was not so effective but in the main he was a constant threat, on form, he was relentless. His confidence grew to a silly amount that was a joy to watch. Skipping past defenders at will and scoring simply brilliant goals.

I classed myself as a Leeds follower but that was only because of Harry. I even admitted to a liking for Manu (). When it was known he was leaving I openly admitted I would be changing my allegence to whatever team Harry went to. In other words I was really just a Harry Kewell fan.

As we know he signed for us and I was following Liverpool. I am not going to dribble on about what happened next for Harry but for me I was slowly falling in love Liverpool Football Club.

The actual point I stopped being a Harry Kewell supporter and became a lifelong Liverpool supporter was the Olympiacos game. I lived near my friend at this point and went around to see him before going to work. When he saw me he said "It doesn't get any better than that, does it". My reply was "that's it, what a game, what a team". TBH i was gobsmacked

Harry is a true professional, I have followed him all his career and I still believe he actually thinks in his own mind he will return to his best. He left Australia and his family at 15yo and travelled to the other side of the world to achieve a dream, ultimately play for Liverpool. NOONE WOULD BE MORE DEVESTATED THAN HIM HOW IT TURNED OUT.

I understand people being disappointed at his output here, we all are. Those who say he puts Australia before Liverpool are talking absolute bull****. harry has played 29 times for Australia in over 10 years.

If he is going I wish him all the best at his new club and for the rest of his career. I thank him for making me a Football fan (no easy task 12 years ago) but most of all I will be eternally grateful to him for introducing me to the greatest Football team on the planet, Liverpool Football Club.

Its all good my friend because you are here now. But the route was funny.

Thanks Shaggy. I know it is not a conventional "route", but that is why I posted it. Great players are what draw more supporters to the game, second only to parental influence.

Don't worry though my other mate, a Chelsea supporter, never lets me live it down that I have changed clubs in his eyes. In my eyes I was only following Harry and learning the game.

No, life long. However, I recently told him he was a glory hunter. He is an expat from Devon but moved here when he was very young. He goes for Chelsea because the first FA cup he saw when he was 5 or 6yo they won (early 70's?).

Therefore in my eyes, he should go for Devon (I assume they have a club) otherwise he is just a gloryhunter, isn't he?

Great story that Skillz. Your as much a fan as anyone and never let them tell you otherwise. I really ould live Harry to stay and turn it around, if only to piss of the nastiness we sometimes get here to players who have tough times.
