Harry's just been named captain for Australia for the first time. Well in Harry.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Wow, this is apparently what a player can end up costing a club when he becomes a dreaded 'Crock'.

£160,000 a game... that's what Harry Kewell cost Liverpool
By COLIN WOOD - Last updated at 22:42pm on 6th May 2008

Harry Kewell is leaving Liverpool as an expensive flop, having cost almost £160,000 a game over five years since joining them from Leeds.

He made 138 appearances and scored just 16 goals after being signed by Gerard Houllier from Leeds for £5million in 2003 on a contract worth £60,000 a week.

The Australia winger appeared destined for success when he signed, but a series of fitness problems restricted him and he has had an unhappy time, even being booed by his own fans when he went off injured early during the Champions League Final against AC Milan three years ago.

Rafa Benitez showed faith in him after succeeding Houllier, but the manager upset many supporters by giving Kewell a starting place for the 2006 FA Cup Final against West Ham.

He was substituted early in the second half.

At 29, Kewell's time at Anfield is up. He has played just 18 games for Liverpool in the last two seasons, and it became clear that his appearance as a second-half substitute in the shock FA Cup defeat by Barnsley in February would be his last.

Fulham, who attempted to sign him during the January transfer window, are almost certain to move for him again.

But Kewell will not accept an offer from Craven Cottage if they are relegated and is certain to attract a number of other clubs.

That's actually a very good point mate. Put like that you certainly do have to feel for the fella at least a little.

Therefore in my eyes, he should go for Devon (I assume they have a club) otherwise he is just a gloryhunter, isn't he?
Well, I must be a gloryhunter too as I'm over here in Oz but originally from Barnsley (I know, I'll be made to regret revealing that).

When we "pick" a team generally we're far too young to know about local loyalties and gloryhunting and plastic etc. You just pick a team that you enjoy watching, for whatever reason.

And you NEVER CHANGE TEAMS. That is plastic.

I can't believe what I'm reading here. He's been a total ****in' waste of space. When you consider the amounts of money that a lot of fans stump up and that gob****e's been pickin' up 60K a week for five years. Then there was his wife's revelation on live TV that he'd always fancied a move abroad !! Brian Reade reckons he's going to City. Holby City!!! Good riddance.

                  Thank **** his contracts up

Question is though, does anybody know if the club get any kind of cash-back during his long spells out? I mean from Insurers. I would assume there must have been some kind of insurance policy on him?

A million quid a goal and people are lining up to say tara and all the best Harry. Even when he wasn't injured he did next to **** all. As I recall even the deal that brought him here stunk the place out. Didn't the majority of the fee go straight to him? 3 mill? Anyway, I bet Kewell's glad Hicks sold his ****in' dogfood factory. The only man ever to get injured on Question of Sport.

Dunno, but I'm just thankful that he'll be off our payroll soon. 63K a week

Injured midfielder Harry Kewell will have cost Liverpool £157,554 per game when his Anfield career comes to an end this month. Kewell, who was signed by Gerard Houllier from Leeds in 2003, is one of several players heading for the exit door. (Various)

                          Good Riddance IMO.

While I feel a little sorry for him in that his career has become a casualty, I will be glad to see him gone. He is too injury prone. And take Aurelio with you!

The above clip proves that everyone that is saying that Kewell isn't an excellent pro is talking ****.
Being a good pro does not make you a good player!!!

The sooner this waste of space is out of the club the better*

......and dont bother with all the "injury" excuses.
