The fact that Benitez even offered him anything is worrying in itself.

I've defended Harry on here & elsewhere as I feel he has been harshly treated in a lot of ways by Liverpool fans regarding his injuries etc
However if this is true it disgusts me to be honest. With the amount of money he has received from Liverpool for the past several years for little or no return, him being a lifelong Red, added to the incredible faith & trust that Rafa has shown in him over the same period, if he had been offered a rolling contract with fcuk all of a basic & a few quid for appearances he should have taken it as a "thank you" to the only man in football who stuck with him through thick & thin in the face of horrendous criticism
I hope this doesn't turn out to be the truth but if it is then I am very disappointedAt a football club there's a holy trinity- the players the manager and the supporters, Directors dont come into it, they are only there to sign the cheques " - Bill Shankly

Benitez puts £15m tag on Crouch
Peter Crouch
Crouch says he will decide on his future in the summer
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has hinted Peter Crouch can leave should the club receive £15m for the striker.
Benitez also confirmed that midfielder Harry Kewell and first-team coach Alex Miller would be leaving Anfield.
"Crouch wants to play every week but knows he must fight it out with Fernando Torres," Benitez said.
"We keep seeing Portsmouth linked with the player but we have had no offer as yet. A £15m price tag for Crouch would not be unreasonable."
Crouch has had limited first-team opportunities as Benitez has preferred to use Spaniard Torres - who has scored 32 goals so far this season - as a lone striker, with Steven Gerrard supporting from midfield.
606: DEBATE
Should Crouch leave?
Liverpool have offered the 27-year old a new contract, but earlier this month Crouch said he would decide on his future at the end of the season.
Crouch's team-mate, Kewell, will leave in the summer after the Australian reportedly rejected a new deal on reduced wages.
The 29-year-old winger's Liverpool career has been plagued by injury. He has made just 81 league appearances since his transfer from Leeds United in 2003.
"We have tried to come to an agreement with the player and his agent, but that has not been possible," said Benitez.
"Kewell will leave the club at the end of his contract."
And Benitez told BBC Radio Merseyside he believes injuries have prevented Kewell from fulfilling his potential at the club.
"In terms of the player he has quality. He has everything for being successful. The quality and the potential," he said.
John Arne Riise's future at Anfield looks uncertain after Benitez admitted he would listen to offers for the left-back, who has a year remaining on his current contract.
"He is not playing at the moment but he knows that if we receive an offer that is good for him and good for us, okay, we will talk," said the Spaniard.
"But at this moment he is our player. I am really pleased with him because he is a fantastic professional."
Benitez added that he had "some names to consider" before replacing Miller, who is leaving the club to manage JEF United Chiba in Japan.

it's his contractual right!lfc had agreed to pay him that money, cant blame the lad for accepting their terms. its like saying to your boss "I know you're paying whilst I'm off sick, as per my contract, but as a gesture of goodwill on my part I wont accept any wages until i am back fit"Originally posted by Johnny View PostHe should have taken a reduced wage,he`s one of our highest earners while Rafa has been haggling with clubs over a few million.

Whilst I don't entirely disagree with you I don't think Kewell's situation can be compared with the average man in the street's. £65000 a week!! i actually thought that harry might have played for liverpool for free for a season to be perfectly honest.... i know people go on and on about him being a victim as well and all that ****e and ordinarily i would agree but this prick was pictured clubbing with his wife in london just after getting injured (again) about 2½ years ago.....
he cost lfc over 150k per game that he played and the prick should have held his hands up and said, "look lads, it's not been my fault, but i still want to give the club some sort of service for all you have done for me" - he would rather get another pay day somewhere like villa or newcastle...... prick.....

Redondo is not a good professional. He is the exemption to the rule.
Player and club decide on a contract, it is a risk for both parties but both know their obligations. There are no winners here, but for some it seems they feel better if Harry orchestrated and we were ripped off.
We were ripped off, but it wasn't Harry's fault. it's football.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24
