Actually I don't care...I've said my piece. I thought I was perfectly restrained throughout.

Didn't realise he was banned though. Just saw Reece's post now lol. Not sure he deserves a banning for one hapless, comical, loopy and surely drunken post.

Surely this has to go down as the most abrupt, random, mis-leading, ****ed up thread of all time??

Well maybe in hindsight I was somewhat rash. However he had said he was ****ing off anyway, and he'd made it pretty clear what he though of this place. I'll tell you what, I'll reduce it to a two day ban and then if he wants to come back and get back to normality then that's all good

Well, not exactly, you obviously haven't read any of Clint Dogg's threads. Or that one about the platypus club or something. Or your epic about the club now I think of it. But yeah, its pretty ****ed up.

To a bunch of internet warriors? Or a bunch of armchair football fans who've never played the game profesionally.

If I didn't know better I'd say you were on a wind up

Whether or not YOU think that 'anyone should have to justify an opinion', we are a bit more liberal in this country and we believe that people have the right to form whatever opinion they wish and our freedom of speech is very important to us.
i agree with a lot of what you say except for those who have never played the game professionally bit, does that mean that all gynecologist must be women. as fans we observe the game and study it, most footballers follow strict orders on how to play by there managers and are not paid to think, hence the wengers the rafas and mourinhos who maybe played the game at a lower level but were great observers of the game like us lot, so there.

Re: the bolded bit - that's a straw man argument and I'm not sure where you are coming from with that. Gynaecologists have to study medicine and gynaecology as well as being practically skilled in performing surgical procedures. In your analogy, the gynaecologists are the footballers as they are the ones "doing the job". I'd say gynaecologists have a lot more insight into gynaecological problems than casual observers be they male or female.
I disagree with the comment "players are not paid to think". I'd say they are paid to think, they have to be able to read the game and adapt their style. Once they are on the pitch, it becomes very difficult for the manager to robotically program the players to do their bidding, so the players have to think about the game and adapt to the circumstances.

I think you're being a bit bold comparing yourself with Wenger, Rafa and Mourinho

                                haha - seriously tho

I kinda see what he was saying - imo, in theory a top class professional footballer should have a better understanding of the game than the average bloke on the street.......but the poitn i think u were trying to make was that is not always the case. What I think Jan was failing to grasp was, that there is a fair few football pro's who may be great players but are literally thick! - they live their whole lives with everything 'done' fun them, almost like a robot - jan mentioned diets, well I bet half the top pros have a ****ing clue why they have these diets, they just get told to what to eat cause it's good for them etc. You can be a good footballer without actually understanding what u are doing or what the game is about.

Like your examples - i have a few, i play at a fairly decent amatuer level - one of my good mates is a striker, he lived in belgium when he was a kid and played for waterloo and then went on to anderlecht but broke his leg so came home. His understanding of the game, all be it at an amatuer level, is ****ing shocking, he hasn't got a clue what is going on, and he couldn't coach or manager a team or offer any insight into tactics etc.

Yet he scores EVERY game he plays. A whole array of finishes, from tap ins, to headers, to 25 yd volleys. He is just purely a natural finisher - now as i said this is only amatuer level but comparasions can be made with the top levels. For example I have another mate who as never played a proper game of football in his life -

so going by jan's theory surely my mate who is as good an amatuer striker you can get should have more 'knowledge' of the game than my mate who can't kick a ball. But he doesn't and you can have a much more in depth and knowledgable debate with the lad who can't play.
