    Our wage bill is astronomic

It has risen dramatically this summer

We have yet to offload any significant wages

If you think we can keep adding players to our squad without getting some off the books in one form or other then you are very wrong
Cut that **** out Lecter. We should be able to have a sensible debate without resording to petty insults.

The question is how far are we prepared to go in order to get him off the books? My argument is that on balance we're better off keeping him than letting him go out on loan.

I do see where you're coming from. I hope you see my point as well. But we're clearly not going to agree on this. I hope he stays and at the end of the season you admit you're glad the loan deal fell through!

The story of the deal falling through is emanating from Sky Sports News who "understand" this is the case

I'll fwait or someone more solid to report this as only the other week they "understood City had agreed a fee for Nasri"

I do understand what you and others are trying to say but I feel you are making a decision based more on emotions. Whereas the club will be making the decisions based on a calculated business & economic risk

Yep, fair enough. We'll have to wait and see what happens with the deal. I never take SS as gospel!

As for the bold bit, I think you're probably right. That's a fan's perogative though hey. I'd just love to see the bloke given a good run in the team. I think he'd do really well for us. Time will tell!

Anyway, I think we've taken this debate as far as it's going to go. So I'm out.

The latest quotes from the agent (I know its tribal but they are quoting an Italian paper)

Agent says Fiorentina move 50:50 for Liverpool midfielder Aquilani
            28.07.11 | tribalfootball.com

The agent of Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani says a move to Fiorentina is now a 50:50 possibility.

Aquilani wants a permanent move to Italy.

Franco Zavaglia told Sportitalia: "I spoke with (Pantaleo) Corvino, it must be evaluated. It is not an easy task.

"A percentage? 50%. The player has expressed a desire to return outright to Italy. We have the entire of August, we will find a solution."

                Aquilani agent still hopeful
Agent says Fiorentina deal has not fallen through

Aquilani: Could still move to Fiorentina, says his agent

Alberto Aquilani's agent insists there is still a '50 per cent chance' of the midfielder leaving Liverpool for Fiorentina this summer, despite reports that the proposed move has fallen through.

Talks over a potential switch were thought to have collapsed after the Italy international said he would prefer a permanent move rather than a loan deal and Fiorentina were unwilling to meet the Reds' asking price.

Aquilani's agent, Franco Zavaglia, says the 27-year-old, who spent last season back in his homeland on loan at Juventus, does not want to be loaned out only to face the same situation of negotiating his future again next summer.

And Zavaglia claims the Viola are still weighing up whether to sign the former Roma man on a permanent contract.

"As Alberto doesn't yet fall in the plans of Liverpool, we want to find a solution so that next year the current situation will not reoccur again," he told Sportitalia.

"The player wants to come to Italy on a definite transfer.

"I met (Fiorentina's sporting director, Pantaleo) Corvino, and the club must think about it. It's a difficult deal, but let's see.

"There is a 50 per cent chance that my client will transfer to Florence. Last year in August there was 'magic', let's see if this year will be the same, there is still time."

You need central defenders that is great on the ball, is a great tackler, great reader of the game and can play one touch football. Masch wouldn't be a great central defender in the PL but he is a great central defender at Barcelona.

How many games he played as a central defender doesn't really matter. He did it the last couple of months last season so it is probably 8-10 games. What matters is how he performed and he had no problem at all.

When a team selects you to play as a central defender in the most important game of the season, the CL final, then that really says it all.

Liverpool FC midfielder Alberto Aquilani wants permanent deal to join Fiorentina

LIVERPOOL midfielder Alberto Aquilani has rejected the chance to move on loan to Fiorentina as he wants to join the Serie A club on a permanent basis.

The Viola were hoping to snap him up on a season-long loan with a view to buying him next summer.

However, the Italy midfielder isn’t keen on a temporary switch and is banking on the two clubs coming to an agreement over a fee.

Aquilani is surplus to requirements at Anfield but the Reds are determined to claw back a significant chunk of the £17million they paid Roma for the 27-year-old.

His agent Franco Zavaglia remains hopeful a compromise will be reached with Fiorentina to enable Aquilani to return to his homeland.

“After finding out that he’s not in favour with Liverpool, Alberto would prefer a permanent solution rather than just be part of a loan,” he said.

“We want to find a solution so that next year the current situation will not reoccur again. The player wants to come to Italy on a definite transfer.

“I met (Fiorentina sporting director) Pantaleo Corvino and the club must think about it.

“There is a 50% chance that my client will transfer to Florence. We’re still waiting to see what will happen.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool goalkeeper Martin Hansen has joined Bradford City on an emergency 28-day loan.

The Danish shot-stopper, who featured for the Reds during the pre-season tour of Asia, is relishing the chance to gain experience with the Bantams.

                          Hansen said: “I’m very happy.

“It maybe should have happened a season earlier but hopefully I can get a lot of experience.

“Now it’s real men’s football I have to go out and perform every single weekend now.”

According to Said article that sentance states He is not wanted at Liverpool = Kenny does not rate him = Everyone (posters/internet warriors) who says that Kenny rates him is talking nonsense.
