No, he put his hand on his head to pat him in a patronising way to try and get a reaction.

I suspect the racism was to do with him being French

French? So what's the big deal?

Watch it again mate, I think it was a genuine gesture to put an end to the fracas.

Either that or Suarez is incredibly conniving

If its found to be true that Suarez made those comments then he should be banned for a long time. ( but I doubt he did)
But on the other hand if found he never, then Evra should be banned for a long time as well, as he should not be allowed to keep spouting this ****e when things don't go his way.
It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

The problem is now he's made the accusation, even if the FA can't find evidence that doesn't mean that Suarez didn't say anything, it just means there isn't enough evidence. The FA can't punish Evra because they can't prove that he wasn't subjected to racist abuse, and if they punish the victim when complaints aren't upheld then they will discourage people who have genuinely been the victim of racist abuse from coming forward.

IMO the only way Evra can be punished is if after complaining to the press he retracts his comments or refuses to co-operate in an FA enquiry.

Whether Suarez did or didn't make racist comments there will be some football fans and some members of the press that will label him a racist. Whatever Suarez is in a no-win situation.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think it will just end up as an Evra's-word-against-Suatez's-word affair, with no punishment handed out, although if other mancs provide 'corroborating' statements it could get uncomfortable.

Whichever way this pans out it is a far from ideal situation. It is one man's word against another's, as things curently appear to stand.

If Suarez said something then Evra should have talked to the referee straight away so he could keep an eye on Suarez if he would say something more the rest of the game.

If Suarez is guilty then he deserves a long ban but if he isn't guilty then Evra should get a long ban.

It is completely down to Evra to find evidence that Suarez said something. It was his responsibility to talk to the ref the first time Suarez said something if he did that. He didn't do that and that clearly points to that Suarez isn't guilty.

It would be very very strange if Evra wouldn't care at all after the sixth or seventh time Suarez said something, very very strange.

Suarez will now have to live with this the rest of his career. No one will care if he is guilty or not. He is already painted out as a racist by Evra.

That makes the accusation by Evra even worse if Suarez isn't guilty. Then he should get a 10+ game ban. You simply don't accuse someone being racist without clear evidence.

If Evra had reported it a day after it happened and found evidence to support him then he would have acted the right way. Now he acted like an idiot.

A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

1 observation on Evra/Suarez row. Wouldn't it have been better for everyone if it'd remained private until & unless allegations are proven?

Too late now but it would have been much better.
