I'm waiting for the following release to come out.

The FA and PFA have decided jointly to clarify the acceptable use of language on the football pitch. For the avoidance of doubt, the word "negro" should not be used at any time or in any context. Should a player feel the urge to use such a word, irrespective of context or meaning, we would like to advise that player to choose one of the following terms that are accepted by both the FA and PFA: c*nt, fukin d*ckhead, *******, or f*ggot. Also note that all of those terms are acceptable when directed at the match referee as well, as long as they are preceded by "FUK OFF YOU..." and delivered by a group of at least 5 players at any one time.

We hope that this clarifies our firm stance on racism, and our firm acceptance of sexism, homophobia, and verbal abuse.

    Merry fukin Christmas.

Suarez's performance for us was described favourably as well. I think the media in general are being fair to him

On a broader scale than just LFC, what this case really brings to UK/England is an increased reputation as xenophobic country. Not so much because of the Suarez verdict alone, if there was precedence for it or it was the general norm, I don't think many outside the football world would care. But right now with the statement from Evra, the cultural aspect of it as explained in lenght and the fact that Evra does not get punished for his comment on Suarez nationality / origin just brings a whole other element of hypocracy/xenophoic to it.

Add to that (although not yet decided), that Terry seems to go unscattered through this, or at least gets a lot less focus just tops that. It's sad really.

It's PC gone mad, and it only helps to obscure the real problem with racism that has nothing to do with whether you can use a certain word or not, that is just scratching the surface of a far deeper cultural problem. And now the FA have apparently found a target that is very comfortable for them, and so Suarez ends up a victim in this case. And at what cost? It's not the 8 game ban that matters, it pales in comparision to Suarez being labeled a racist on the grounds of using a word. I know the FA etc. tries to state they don't label him a racist, but just using a racist word, but that ship have sailed as soon as they made the verdict.

And, as mentioned, the fact that a word have become central in the debate on racism not only helps to ruin the debate on racism, and the real issues with racism, it also victimize a person that is clearly not a racist, but someone who is caught between cultures and different norms for what is PC. And he has to live with that for the rest of his career and on the broader aspect UK/England looks a lot more xenophobic in the eyes of many around the world and at the very least like a nation of hypocrits.

The "whole new level" is just a reflection of the level of sensationalism that a "racial" case can develop

              It just seems so blatant

Funny, I was thinking about this the other day. This whole case is sensationalised due to the fact it hinges on (alleged) racism, which is traditionally a media 'hot potato'. however in this instance it is being used by journos and the FA as a way of showing that they themselves aren't racist. By condemning Suarez they appear to believe they are showing themselves to not be racists. But as you state the FA don't seem to bother about any other form of hatred or use of offensive language. They have picked the wrong guy and the wrong situation to make an example. The set up of Suarez began the day he arrived in the UK, with the press beginning to set him up as a pariah. The FA have shown themselves to be outdated, with a set of rules that are outmoded and which do not reflect the charges and examples they wish to make. The lack of consistency in the application of their 'Law', the lack of precedent, the lack of understanding. They should be offered a vote of no confidence. Things need to change in football, maybe this could be used as the catalyst?
