Is it not a case though that Evra speaks Spanish, and therefore knows that the word has no racial intent? He also claimed that the ref booked him only because he was black.

I think Evra is not as innocent as the media is making out and he knew exactly what he was doing.

I have no idea what the answer is, and tbh i'm not sure there is an answer, if Suarez really never intended to be racist, why would using the word be wrong to him and people form Uruguay ?

Education from nation to nation and people travelling from nation to nation is the only way, acceptance that words mean different things to different people, and FAIR enforcement when genuine mistakes are made.

Tbh, it could as simple as....'The word means something else to Suarez and he genuinely wasn't being racist', and somehow this has been missed by the fa's expert panel.

Not exactly the reaction he had when Schmeichel was on the recieving bench in the row with Ian Wright.

I know Schmeichel was in the end not found guilty, and he ended up as the conververted coverboy of the anti-racism campaign - but still...

That's my point about Evra picking and choosing when to be offeneded by who he's playing or how he feels on any particualr day, he muddies the waters, if people want true interpretation of what's correct, this has to stop, otherwise players like Suarez will be like lambs to the slaughter.

He may speak some Spanish and he may not think Suarez is racist, but it's you're assumption hew knew the comment had no racist connotations. You might be right, but I wouldn't blame him based on an assumption like that. What he accused the ref of and whether he was overblown in his account of what happened is of course a different matter.

I'm not sure if Evra speaks Spanish, to be honest I'm not sure that would necessarily take away the right for him to be offended by something that in his own culture is offensive.

As I mentioned before I think it's something that could easily have been sorted out by getting the two players together and explaining their cultural back grounds and why it is offensive in one and not so in the other. I suspect that Suarez would have been happy to do this, which suggests Evra was the one unwilling, the reasons for that we can only speculate.

From what has gone on I agree that Evra is not so innocent in this himself.

P.S. I love the signature by the way
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I want to know if Evra really called Suarez, was it 'Sudacu' ?

Posted about this last night, someone said this is what Evra said, and that it's a racial slur from Europeans to SAmericans of mixed race.

Because regardless of what Suarez said or the rights or wrongs and misunderstanding, Evra saying this in Spanish, would be as guilty as Suarez, and so it follows how can one be branded a racist without the other.

                EDIT: This was it...
Saw this comment on U-tube, i didn't actually know what words Evra had used, just knew he said "Get off me you 'South American", but in Spanish i thought.

                [Quote:]
This is unfair, I mean, because if you punish Suarez and not Evra? He said to Suarez..
                "Do not touch me Sudaca"

a racist term for the South Americans in Europe, the only thing racist is the decision of FA [end quote]

Then doing a bit of research....i found this question on Yahoo...

And Below...Translated by google.....not perfect i know, but the meaning is clear.

Question....Someone can explain what a greaser Sudaka or Composing?

Answer...Sudaca is written, and is a derogatory term used in Spain to refer to the South Americans, with the pejorative connotations that are half Indian and poor, who have come to find work. This obviously is not what I think, is what the term connotes.
But do not be offended too, man, I think there are derogatory terms in all countries against foreigners or against their own country but another province. It's nice people are in the human race.

This is tghe link to the question page. http://es.answers.yahoo.com/question...4121910AAO2biT

Now then...If Evra used this word, and the above description of it's meaning is true, then the FA are on a very sticky wicket imo, and charging one without the other is quite simply a travesty.

It may be a different matter, but I think it shows that Evra is potentially playing a game too, which all comes back to the main issue.

I may be completely wrong, but its certainly up for debate.

I do agree though that just because it's ok in Uruguay doesn't mean it's ok in England. I'm not sure that their society has developed in the correct direction as, although the lack of racism (or more correctly, lack of discrimination) is great, the use of colour as a tag is still backward
I'll take a wild guess, you never been to South America, you dont know anybody from South America and you have never spoken to anybody from South America yet you feel well placed to pass judgement on a culture you do not understand, a language you cannot speak and a place you have never been to. Feel free to correct me if i am wrong.

Cultural arrogance is bloody grating, its like cuntsticks in the west tut tutting at Koreans eating dogs .. well they dont sell them in ****ing Asda so its not right .. they should do things like us ... the key point here is its not ****ing racist it has 0 racist connotations, its just a word that sounds like ****** .. same why punt sounds like cunt a punt is not a cunt ..

Sorry if that comes across as pointed, honestly its not supposed to be, this whole affair as really annoyed me, and as someone who lived in different cultures and is exposed to over 250 different cultures on a yearly basis, the whole Its not how we do it in Blighty and the rest of you savages better smarten up undertones is just so ironically ignorant its borderline hilarious, in many ways its S American culture and its people which is being abused here.

I ****ing also hate how that cunt of a player, club, manager has just taken a **** in our soup, we are all very proud of what LFC stands for, they have basically tagged us all ****ing Racists. We are being called a disgrace, our actions shameful. I have never had that kind of attention targeted at me and by association as a Liverpool fan I am now a racist sympathizer. I say fight it to the very very end, we all deserve our names, our wonderful clubs reputation and a truly gifted and decent mans reputation restored.

We should fight tooth and ****ing nail, every ****ing last inch of the way. No hey lets get over this, or lets move on. **** off Ferguson you vile man, easy for you to say you smug callous cunt , we'll move on when we have shown this whole episode for what it is.

A despicable excuse of a sports professional using a false accusation of racism to divert attention from a shocking performance, an equally shocking decisions from his manager to back such action to divert attention from perhaps the weakest approach by a Man Untd team to Liverpool game in living memory and a corrupt Football Associate trying to score points against and equally useless Fifa president, caught in all of this is one man whos only crime is to be too technical for players to handle, to go over with contact in order to protect himself or get his side a free kick and by responding to being racially abused by saying bitch whats your problem ?

Game on Cunts, we have the ****ing truth on our side

I find it hard to believe the fa missed this opportunity too, but i think a message was clearly wanting to be sent by someone, and the case has imo been judged from a very one sided point of view.

Just really gutted it's gone this far, when it really never needed to, and more could have been achieved on the subject of tolerance had it been handled with a touch more understanding.

It wouldn't help his overall credibility, no. But in the absence of anything to show Evra knew there was nothing remotely racist about what Suarez said, I think it's more reasonable not to apportion blame on him for taking offence as though he ought to have known.

Yep. As far as I can see, everyone involved has lost out in this except for those who have used the case to score political points.
