Genius from Evans- "it's wrong because it sounds ugly in English even though they weren't speaking English."

Did he claim we'd been bought by "China" a bit back too?

FFS of course it sounds ugly in English, there's no direct translation, and even if there were you lose context in the translation. There'll be loads of stuff in English that will sound ugly when translated into another language.

Every time i see and hear Evans, he always comes across as being a bit thick, maybe it's just a perception i have of him, but i look at him....and i wonder, How the **** did he get a job like that!

Then i think about Sports Journalism in general in England, and all becomes clear.

I've come to the conculsion to be a sports journalist you just have to be an opinionated tosser.

Certainly seems to be a common trait, and likely the main qualification needed.

Load of flimflam that recent piece.

Yes, lots of people are incapable of looking past their tribal allegiances. Yes, you can see why Evra might take it the way he did. Yes, if you don't know anything about the language in question and its usage then you might take it that way too. What in the **** does any of that have to do with whether the verdict was right?

I'm not sure the last part was the point of the article really. He's talking about the fallout.

It's all pretty incoherent- his point is LFC supporters shouldn't look into the details of the conviction of their star player or worry about him being a racist & just accept it blindly.

Disagree, he spends the first half of the piece very clearly attacking Suarez' grounds for defence and implicating him.

When he later makes a valid point about how it could have been handled better afterwards, he does so blaming only one side for this not coming about. He says nothing about the fact that Man Utd are from their side maintaining there has been straightforward racist abuse. There is no mention of the fact that Suarez himself may have been abused by Evra based on being from Uruguay (we don't really know yet as with all of this) or that Evra immediately mouthed off about being abused 'ten times' etc. These things tend not to move towards reconciliation, wouldn't you agree?

I think there is a difference between what a player says in a media interview abroad and the official stance of the clubs. There have been no formal accusations made against Evra so from the manc's perspective, it is pretty straight forward. In hindsight, an olive branch and a little contrition from LFC could have taken a lot of the heat from the situation imo, irrespective of Evra being mouthy.

I guess we're bound to feel differently as I think Evans is pretty much right in his assessment of the accusation itself. (very much in a minority here I know)

The thing is the club feel they've genuinely wronged here hence their stance hence the lack of the olive branch. If Evra honestly feels he was racially abused then I don't actually blame him for pushing this along, I get the feeling he doesn't and it was almost forced down this route otherwise Man U and Evra would have looked ridiculous.

The outcome of this case though has IMO caused a lot more questions and harm through the terrible handling of the situation by the FA from the get-go, obviously racism should in no way be tolerated but all they seem to have managed is create more anamosity between two clubs, no clear understanding why this decision was made and no real rush to actually explain it either but on top of this they've had plenty of time to try and use it as a points scoring exercise with FIFA and UEFA about their handling of racism in football which seemingly has & will backfire and left us as a nation more allienated than we already were.

Regardless of what Evra might have said to Suarez or vice versa surely a statement of fact from Evra along the lines of "I don't think Suarez is a racist" should probably allowed reasonable sense to be made with the outcome and rather than create the chaos thats come out of this they'd have been better served trying to use the two in a positive light against racism explaining cultural differences etc..... it would also hinder self serving hacks/newspapers from making money out of this.

Are the Rory Smith and Tony Evans articles in agreement? I thought they had different views.
