Evra accuses Suarez of racism

So, you honestly think the club are making all this fuss despite knowing he's a racist? Wake up. It's one of the biggest stitch ups ever.Originally posted by paulg View PostI'm saddened that LFC fans are so vigorously defending Suarez's hamfisted attempts to "explain" what he said. I very much doubt that, if his claim that he used a jokey or term of endearment is right, that he uses it to Glen Johnson or our other black players without so much as a "don't say that again".
This whole "explanation" and attempt to push this onto the FA leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
If an opposition player had said it to one of our players, would we defend them? Of course we wouldn't.

If you use offensive language to someone and don't realise it, you should apologise if they say it is offensive to them, no matter what was said. You can then, if you really want, protest your innocence, but until then, you're ignorant and blatantly wrong. Suarez has been poorly advised on this, and LFC's mismanagement of the whole affair is disturbing.Substance > Style

Hard to argue with that, even given the sporting rivalryOriginally posted by ronanm View PostIf you use offensive language to someone and don't realise it, you should apologise if they say it is offensive to them, no matter what was said. Wake up? To what? The club defending someone they've just spent millions on, who's been arguably the best player of the season so far? The t-shirt wearing before the judgement now looks embarrassing. **** me, we're always looking for conspiracies in everything, now.
Our statement about the appeal looks childish and misdirected. Has anyone apologised for any offence that may have been caused?
Suarez comes out of this looking no better than Terry and I feel Kenny has handled this badly.

And if he was guilty surely we'd want it forgotten asap and in the back ground? Doesnt us constantly saying he's innocent tell you something?Originally posted by paulg View PostWake up? To what? Read the report and then come back, the whole thing reeks. Ashamed you've brought in to it but theres always a few sadly.

No matter what Suarez or the club did he was always going to take some flak in the media - thats the nature of the beastOriginally posted by paulg View PostWake up? To what? I don't know if I agree with that. It surely has to depend on what's been said. In this case there's certainly good cause to think it applies but I can think of other instances where I wouldn't apologise just because someone has taken offence to something I said.Originally posted by ronanm View PostIf you use offensive language to someone and don't realise it, you should apologise if they say it is offensive to them, no matter what was said. The defining issue has to be whether, when someone draws your attention to it, you can then see their point, even if you don't think it's valid, let alone share it. And perhaps that applies here in Suarez's case. Or perhaps not.
The problem with hard-and-fast cultural norms, like "you should apologise", is that it becomes tricky to apply them when they collide with the norms of another culture. I'd agree Suarez could have shown greater sensitivity here and that the club could have advised him on it but that's not the same as blurting out an apology irrespective of circumstances.
Badpiggy and MrMichael have made very good points about the implications of how racism allegations are handled in this country. But I'm still torn about how exactly or when exactly and even if an apology is appropriate..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I see Henry Winter is saying today that what lfc need is a top administrator who can influence the FA, understand it's agendas like oh wow David Gill does.
How about the other 18 PL club, how can they all find someone with influence within the FA, Gill should be removed and there should be no conflict of interest with any club.
You can't tell me he wasn't going back to Ferguson saying just keep quiet, the FA want to deal with it this way, let Liverpool dig their own grave etc...
It's shameful that the journalists who are supposed to be on the side of right and fairness, transparancy etc... happily accept Gill being on both boards without a wiff of conflicted interests probably because he is nice to them and slips some off the record stuff every now and againThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
