Think of it as like Schrödinger's Cat - but in all three possible states at this time. When the case is tried, the verdict given and the FA announce what action, if any, they are to take, then that's the equivalent of opening the box.

    I hope that clarifies everything.
But Erwin suggested that the cat was simultaneously dead and alive..just like Suarez who was found probably guilty whilst they confirmed his perceived guilt as guilt...er

The analogy was to do with whether or not we should currently be shocked at the FA's action in the wake of the Terry verdict which is still to occur in this universe - I am of course assuming unidirectionality of time.

But yeah, he is guilty and not guilty simultaneously. It depends on whether or not you feel the box has been opened.

It's all to do with observer effect.

Wow, sometimes I'm amazed at how profound we can seem when misusing metaphors derived from branches of knowledge that we don't understand.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

                TSKeysandGray Richard Keys
Fed up with this now. LFC being reduced to a laughing stock. Tell us what you know Kenny or find a place of dignity.

The defining issue has to be whether, when someone draws your attention to it, you can then see their point, even if you don't think it's valid, let alone share it. And perhaps that applies here in Suarez's case. Or perhaps not.

The problem with hard-and-fast cultural norms, like "you should apologise", is that it becomes tricky to apply them when they collide with the norms of another culture. I'd agree Suarez could have shown greater sensitivity here and that the club could have advised him on it but that's not the same as blurting out an apology irrespective of circumstances.

Badpiggy and MrMichael have made very good points about the implications of how racism allegations are handled in this country. But I'm still torn about how exactly or when exactly and even if an apology is appropriate.
Apologies are tricky things but maybe an expression of regret for offending is more appropriate in this context.

And I'm not referring to his sacking from Sky or subsequent pathetic attempts to resurrect his career.

that's what i assume will happen and if he's found guilty then they will have to throw the book at him - they seem to be paving the way/softening the blow for this eventuality (the timimg of the Suarez verdict coinciding with Terry's court case being confirmed etc), by throwing the book at a less "nationally treasured" player first.

If he is charged I presume he will be charged with the same offence as Luis. As he only said it once he will probably get a lighter ban.

                                Lighter than eight matches?

Cigarette puns about John Terry are so topical.
