As a matter of fact, it is clearly incorrect. The fundamental issue with comments like 'black people are...' or 'white people think...' is that it categorises groups of people by their race and doesn't take people in to account as individual human beings. I don't for one minute believe that there has ever been a time where all white people, or even a majority of white people, or anything other than a tiny minority of white people, were in a position to 'play divide and rule' and like it in any political sense.Last edited by Kenneth; 07-01-12, 08:13 PM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Always preferred the basic definition of racism and racist behaviour myself, as a specific basis for determination as to what constitutes racist actions or behaviour........far too many ignorant lines drawn by various groups, individuals and agendas out there, that has, IMO, blurred the topic to manipulate people's perception.
- The belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race."I will make the boys feel your support"

Exactly. We're all one, smashing through space at 67000 miles an hour with a probable billion other species in far-flung galaxies. But the system has worked with the minion lemmings of humans, divide, rule, conquer, destroy... we'll all get what's coming for us, and I'll be sitting there, spliff in hand etc. ehejjehjehjehje

Of course.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostNeil, in your opinion, can a case of racism ever exist, where the perpetrator is black and the target is white? Or would you never see it as racism, because black people were enslaved by white people? If it can exist in your view, could you give me an idea of what would need to have happened for it to be racist in your opinion?
Just wondering.
I'm sure we can all easily think of things that said by a black person to a white person would clearly be racist, and totally indefensible. So what?
What?Originally posted by JHP View PostAs I said I understood your point. The point I was making is that if there is a requirement for there to have been some enslavement for subsequent actions to be labelled racist when did mixed race enslave blacks for Suarez to be considered racist?
It's not about whether Suarez's antecedents were slavers. I don't understand what that has to do with anything..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Well done for responding, i didnt expect it but clearly the ego and enjoyment of oneupmanship took over after i predicted you wouldntOriginally posted by Neil Young View PostOf course.

As for your reply, I'm sure we all can, but we also clearly have differing views, so i'm interested in what circumstances would constitute a black person being racist against a white person, according to you.
Indulge me?
Your consistent taking of the moral/maturity high ground is most comic, when you opt to go for the mature option of changing my username in your post.
You do it all for me, i dont even need to do anything.
What next, a hilarious dog picture?
Quite the parody these days mate.

I didn't even see your comment until after posting. I'm certainly not going to bother indulging you by making up obviously racist statements. Sorry, it's not my idea of fun, even for the sake of continuing a vital argument. And it's not remotely useful, we'd just end up discussing hypothetical statements and then trying to draw a line so that one statement is deemed OK and another isn't. What would be the point?
My point is where the line is any of this is blurred and depends on a whole host of factors including who is saying what, in what context, with what subtext, what intent, everything.
It's complicated, which is also why I haven't even bothered looking at the Abbott thread since last posting in it...because some people insist on trying to oversimplify it.
As for taking the moral high ground, leave out the ad hominem attacks..

No.
I'm a white man. It pisses me off when white people bleat about racism in this country, unless they have obvious cause. A bunch of people whining on the internet, taking offence at something for the sake of being outraged, it's just so reactionary.
You're good at laughing at other people, Craig, I'll give you that.Originally posted by Craig_H View Post
Not 'Ilovemourinho' this time then Neil?
You do disappoint.
I may disagree with Neil in some ways but even I would never imply that he was that much of a cunt.
