Maybe he doesn't want to play 'the media game', and would rather keep his morals and pride instead.

Imo, it would be harder NOT to shake Evras hand, knowing what will be coming your way, he must feel extremley strongly about it!

I say fair play to him, for having the courage of his conviction.

For what it is worth, I would put my house on it that Suarez had no intention of shaking his hand. Whether he was right or wrong is another matter. I would find it very hard to shake his hand under the same circumstances.

He should probably have made more of an effort to shake his hand and spared us all this bull****, but yeah I wouldn't want to shake that weasel's hand either.

If you had a problem in the game you got on with it until the end then if you were still aggrieved you settled your differences in the car park

There use to be honesty in the game then
Yeah but you also played in long shorts, had no electricity, outside toilets and consumption.

I hate all the conspiracy theories and watching back you can see that Evra is staring at Suarez long before he gets there and is it’s quite possible that Evra did lower his hand as he didn’t want to shake it. But… When Ferdinand refuses to shake, Suarez visibly holds his hand out which he didn’t do against Evra so is obviously not absolved of all blame.

Evra has been very cute and created this. Suarez's hand was there for the taking.

Nothings changed then, except people now feel brave enough to say in public what theyv'e always thought.

Know your enemy, we do now.

You only have to look at how he shakes every hand before Suarez, and the position his hand is in, people must be blind if they can't see that surely ?

Agree with both of you, but Liverpool Football club has always came before any individual.

I felt Suarez should have swallowed his pride here and shook hands (the look in his eyes would have left Evra in no doubt he didn't mean it) and put Liverpool Football Club's reputation before his own personal grievances.

I realise that's easy for me to say as I'm not the one accused, but I really think that would have been the right thing to do for the club.

United have been very calculating through all of this IMO. We have been amateurish and reactive IMO.

It does make you wonder if any discussion had taken place before Dalglish said this

“People are already speculating on the pre-match ceremony,” Dalglish said. “But from Luis’s point of view, we have spoken to him and I know he will shake the hand of Patrice Evra and the other Manchester United players before the game.”

Bollocks, a lot has changed in these past few months. You're blind if you can't see that.

Before all this we had lots of neutrals who begrudgingly respected our club, now many of those same people label us as a racist club.

We do really need to learn from this. The sting could have been taken out of this months ago. This game was always going to be fiery, but we've really not helped ourselves.

The one positive is that whatever happens now, at least this should start to die down in the next few weeks. By the start of next season, it'll hopefully be forgotten and the media will be outraged by something else.

I agree - Suarez doesn't hang around and why should he. In fairness I think both were understandably reticent to shake the other's hand. Neither made genuine attempts to shake the other's hand - yet, as usual, it's Evra who's the ****ing saint and Suarez who is evil.

Just look at Evra's face, his stance. He is utterly contemptuous.
