Huh?Originally posted by Mostar View PostThere were stuff that happened in the tunnel prior to the game that had a direct impact on Suarez decision not to shake hands and that should have been taken consideration when the statement was made.
What happened in the tunnel prior to the game. I didn't see anything in the coverage.Oh I don't know.

I guess it depends on your thoughts behind the statements; if you think it's a genuine rollicking from Ayre and Liverpool, it could be seen that Suarez has admitted guilt. If you think it's Liverpool saying one thing publicly and another behind the scenes, then no - it's just a statement to draw a line under this.Originally posted by Norbert Dentressangle View PostIs that an admission from Suarez that he made no attempt to shake hands?

Yes and noOriginally posted by Norbert Dentressangle View PostIs that an admission from Suarez that he made no attempt to shake hands?
Not his words IMO, so it can't be his "admission" if you know what I mean
Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostYes, and that was never, ever in doubt. It was clear as day he planned to snub Evra. I would say in fairness though Evra was also reluctant,
Agreed
but still think he was right to do so despite all this ****e.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View Postbut that still doesn't make what Suarez did right."I will make the boys feel your support"

I hope the last line of that can happen now, more than ever.Luis Suarez
I have spoken at length with the Manager since the game at Old Trafford and I realise I got things wrong.
I've not only let him down, but also the Club and what it stands for and I'm sorry. I made a mistake and I regret what happened.
I should have shaken Patrice Evra's hand before the game and I want to apologise for my actions.
I would like to put this whole issue behind me and concentrate on playing football. The times they are a changin'.

I really hope you're here onto something CraigOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostYou can only hope that, behind the scenes, they have spoken to Luis and basically told him "we know you were innocent, we know why you didnt want to shake his hand and we totally support you in all that - but for the good of the club and its image, publicly at least, we need to seen to be saying the right things - we dont mean any of it and you'll need to take it on the chin but you know full well that we support you and continue to do so" etc.
Sometimes you have to say the 'right' thing in the public domain, whether you believe it or not.

My hope and/or thoughts on it - we cannot win this battle with the press and it's best to come out say these types of things regardless of what was said behind closed doorsOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostYou can only hope that, behind the scenes, they have spoken to Luis and basically told him "we know you were innocent, we know why you didnt want to shake his hand and we totally support you in all that - but for the good of the club and its image, publicly at least, we need to seen to be saying the right things - we dont mean any of it and you'll need to take it on the chin but you know full well that we support you and continue to do so" etc.

Exactly Craig. The good of the club has to come before any one person, be that Luis Suarez or even the King. That's always the way it's been at Liverpool, and the way it needs to stay.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostYou can only hope that, behind the scenes, they have spoken to Luis and basically told him "we know you were innocent, we know why you didnt want to shake his hand and we totally support you in all that - but for the good of the club and its image, publicly at least, we need to seen to be saying the right things - we dont mean any of it and you'll need to take it on the chin but you know full well that we support you and continue to do so" etc.

We asked Suarez to take one for the team yesterday by shaking hands with Evra, and in the end he chose to put his needs first. He let us down and now he's apologised so we can all forgive him and move on

What i would've loved to see, and would've utterly confused the **** out of the witch-hunting media, would've been for Suarez to not only shake Evra's hand, but hug and embrace him. Evra would've then been the one to refuse the act of friendship and would've looked like the only villain in all this.
