I read something about this a few months back and it suggested that it was the first frame where there was a gap between the foot and the ball, any frame before that and they couldn't be sure that the ball had been played. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

So it’s complete guess work.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI read something about this a few months back and it suggested that it was the first frame where there was a gap between the foot and the ball, any frame before that and they couldn't be sure that the ball had been played.Modifying post.

I know this probably sounds bitter but I can't help but wonder if the officials were feeling bad about not giving the penalty and gave Leicester the benefit of the doubt with the offside, because denying them a penalty and then ruling out a goal immediately after might look bad and that influenced the decision eithje consciously or subconsciously.
Obviously there is nothing to substantiate this but as I said the line on the Leicester player's arm isn't right...The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Effectively, it also doesn't really make sense with the whole idea of giving the benefit of the doubt to the attacker (as the longer you leave it the more likely they are to be offside.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostSo it’s complete guess work.
I've said before that IMO they should look at 2 frames the earliest one in which the ball is played and the latest, if the player is offside in both they are off otherwise they are on. Problem is it takes longer...The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It wasn’t even a foul. Trent and Thiago were barely 2ft apart. Barnes kicked the ball between them and ran at a gap he couldn’t fit through. Even if he could have got through the gap he wouldn’t have reached the ball before the defender.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI know this probably sounds bitter but I can't help but wonder if the officials were feeling bad about not giving the penalty and gave Leicester the benefit of the doubt with the offside, because denying them a penalty and then ruling out a goal immediately after might look bad and that influenced the decision eithje consciously or subconsciously.

Refereeing performance was awful, they were throwing themselves to the floor and getting cheap freekicks our players were getting two handed pushes and getting nothing.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostYeah, it was a dive. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

But we have this magic system called VAR which means we get all the decisions right nowOriginally posted by Norbs View PostAnthony ****ing Taylor has never exactly been on our side in games, the man seems to despise us

I was screaming at the TV when this happenedOriginally posted by Pepe79 View Post
Cannot believe it wasn’t called back, or even mentioned by pundits.

Does anyone know what the supposed deal is with this, to me it's a clear foul, did VAR even look at it? If not why not? Is there some phase of play or time between it taking place at the goal? Seems a similar situation to the Firmino handball that saw us get a goal chalked off against Spurs.Originally posted by Barnie7 View Postexactly what Jason Mcateer was stating on LFC TV - why wasnt a foul given , a definite 2 handed push in the back of Mane
If we don't have explanations of why that wasn't reviewable or if it was reviewed why the goal was allowed to stand it gives officials the freedom to manipulate the outcome of games. I'm not a fan of VAR but I think it would hugely benefit from someone involved explaning the decisions that have been made because it is either being applied inconsistently or there are subtleties that 99% of players, managers, pundits and fans don't understand and that is having a negative effect on the game.
In this case the ref seemed to be looking straight at it so I have no idea why he didn't give the freekick, but to me it seems prime VAR teratory it looks a clear and obvious error by the official...
The first goal needs an explanation too as where the line shown on the TV is drawn doesn't seem consistent with the rules.Last edited by Exiled_red; 14-02-21, 10:32 AM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
