One of the main reasons why we have been a successful club over the years is because we don't make knee-jerk decisions. We won't on this occasion either. It's frustrating, but the person who will put it right will be Slot. FFS, I can still remember a time when talking about sacking a Liverpool manager was heresy. Slot isn't Hodgson, who imho is the only manager we've had who genuinely deserved to be sacked.
    Really?

If the team is in danger of missing out on the champions league what do you do? It’s not that time yet but can the club afford to miss out on the money from that competition. I think that’s when they will be looking at what decision needs to be made.

Im just so confused with how quickly it’s all changed and how so many basics have gone out the window. Glad I’m not involved in any of this stuff and can just watch and get on with my life and not worry about it after the games done.

They do, but they regard Slot as the head coach, the long term view is the investment in players and the upgrades behind the scenes, and the will to stay at the top and consolidate the equity that they have built in the value of the club. They will believe that that stuff will pay off with Slot if he performs, and without Arne slot if he doesn't.

We uncharacteristically splurged an enormous amount of money in the summer, it was an investment, and protecting that investment is a new imperative for the club, it's a new pressure that none of our previous managers have worked under and it changes the dynamics. I think they will be more trigger happy than they have traditionally been in these circumstances.

I think the splurge on players this season requires champions league football the next few years

14 goals conceded in 9 PL games only Brighton and the bottom 4 have conceded more, we have conceded 2 or more in 6 of our 9 games so far. At the other end only City and Chelsea have scored more. It's obvious where the problems are. We need to make ourselves more solid and control games, we just aren't doing that at the moment. Sacrifice an attacking player for someone who can control the midfield

None of us saw VVD, Konate, Macallister and Salah all going to ****. Is that on the manager?

I am still confident Slot is the man and will turm this round.

It all has to be on the manager, 7 or 8 player's going to absolute **** isn't just a coincidence.

Leaking so many goals is putting immense pressure on the attack. And teams know that if they sit in they can break and cause us problems.

We are effectively playing 4-2-4 when we chase and are just so open in midfield. It’s kamikaze stuff.

The worry is seeing VVD playing like this, he’s usually always so composed. It’s 100% for me on Slot and the changes he’s made. He needs to change it and get back to basics and make the team difficult to play against and rock solid defensively first. Then build on that with the great attacking players in the squad.

I don’t mind if the team goes a bit defensive right now and back to 3 in midfield. Play Wirtz off the left with the license to roam a role he’d be more familiar with. And he needs to pick on form not reputation and show he’s the boss. Time to show us how good you are and why you’ve got the job. I’ll keep believing in him and the players but he needs to make some changes as doing the same thing for a 1/4 of the season and it not working isn’t the right approach.

What will probably save Slot is that there’s no obvious replacement, especially mid-season.

Someone like Iraola will probably be on the list of potentials but as we’ve seen with Rodgers and maybe Slot now, is the leap to doing well at a club with little expectations to joining a club like ours is huge.

Wonder who decided to sell Diaz? I was not necessarily against it m, but that was more down to the players we were linked with. In retrospect, he was a street fighter. He had that bit of devil in him. We look a bit more plodding without his level of unpredictability. Gakpo you know what he is going to do, he is going to cut inside and try and get a shot away - and often it works. But Diaz had more flair, could go both ways, and still got goals and assists.

                              Jurgen surely would be asked.

In his interview on that diary of a CEO podcast last week he talked about how he couldn't have just asked for a year off. (He ****in could.by the way)

He also spoke about how Edwards and Hughes were ****in brilliant and how all the signings were too.

                              I reckon he'd come back

My overall take is as simple as, the players are not doing Slot any favours right now. He is one of a select few managers that have won the league in their first season. Each one of them managed inherited a team from someone else. Like great players, great managers/head coaches don’t turn **** over night. We are in a transitional phase (and it’s not over yet), we are probably expecting too much, because anything less than winning the league this year is after all by default, worse.
