Yep we always create chances and we always score, we are the top scorers in the League. Add a robust defence to that and we walk this. But at the minute we concede way too many chances and goals.

I agree
Not sure Becker is top notch after his injury.
Virgil cant keep his amazing form all season and not having strength in depth in defence could **** us imo. Especially from here on in when every game becomes huge.
Carragher is a knob but he is right when he says that we need to buy a defender.

Yes, we're scoring, but when we're starting a big game like that with a winger up front, we need to improve our attacking options. I know Darwin was suspended but he wouldn't have started anyway, Jota is coming back from injury but always is. If we won't buy someone then Danns needs to get some minutes, we need fresh ideas there.
We are not title winning quality but fortunately, nobody else isLast edited by Kenneth; 15-01-25, 09:40 AM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Forest are doing exactly what Leicester did. They have a formula and it's working. The only difference is they haven't reached the summit yet, when they do it's all over IMOOriginally posted by BigChief View PostQuick update before Arsenal play tomorrow. Because some people are losing their minds tonight and this might help. Only us and Arsenal can get to 90 points now (nope not adding Forest sorry). And unlike us Arsenal have to go on a practically flawless run.

Leicester 1 shot - 1 goal
West Ham 0 shots - 0 goals
United 4 shots - 2 goals
Forest 3 shots - 1 goal

I will say we have been a little unfortunate in recent weeks, where every shot on target seems to go in.
We benefited from the other side of that in our first 10-12 games where big chances were missed (we conceded 6 goals in our first 11 games from an xG of 11), so I'm confident this will revert back to the average in coming weeks.
We just don't look quite so compact out of possession as we did early in the season, we seem as open to the counter as we did under Klopp, but I'm not clever enough to work out why that's the case

Not being miserable, genuine question, but there is lots of talk about us being in a dip and that we were recover soon to win the league but, given the circumstances, is it not more likely that we're seeing the end of a new manager bounce. We were so successful in the first part of the season that it's surprised everybody so, looking back, maybe that was the exceptional period and this is where we are as a squad, battling for draws against utd and forest.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

That's fine but then doesn't this make it the best new manager bounce ever, anywhere?Originally posted by Kenneth View PostNot being miserable, genuine question, but there is lots of talk about us being in a dip and that we were recover soon to win the league but, given the circumstances, is it not more likely that we're seeing the end of a new manager bounce. I'm under no illusion that Slot is no Klopp, but I don't think he needs to be now that City might get their comeuppance. Slot has weaker enemies. Say it really quietly, its a bit like Paisley when Cloughie, etc, started to decline. One tit for another.

Only time will tell really. The days of nearly 100 point seasons are gone IMO. Too many good teams in the league (even clubs like Wolves have loads of good players!).
We were clearly over-performing, and now possibly under-performing, but lets see how things settle out. The next five matches should tell us where we're at.
No one, us included, looks capable of winning 10 in a row this season.

I've felt for a while now that a couple of the things that changed with Slot - making progress through the centre of the pitch through passing and Grav's ability to let the ball go past him and attack - are no longer happening. As a result we currently look much more Klopp-like than we did in the first half of the season. Diaz central and one midfielder pushed up close behind is a bit different, but is only having a big impact in some games.

Are there lots of good teams or are all the teams including us, incredibly average compared to seasons past? I find most of the games really poor.Originally posted by Pablo View PostOnly time will tell really. The days of nearly 100 point seasons are gone IMO. IMO there is no doubt the quality of the lower teams has improved compared to years past, there is more money in the league, more top players want to play in the league, academies are producing better talent, better coaches/managers etc etc etc. I agree the days of 1-2 team being miles ahead of the res are probably gone for now.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostAre there lots of good teams or are all the teams including us, incredibly average compared to seasons past?
