Lucas Leiva has just completed the scan and he told Adrian Clarke of Sport Media Solutions that he is afraid that he could be out for six months. Ben Smith of the Times also confirmed this.

Hopefully this is just Lucas’ judgement and not the doctors, maybe the fact that he hasn’t been injured often leads him to believe that the injury would take longer for him to recover from.

Official results of the scan should be known later today or tomorrow.

Until then we have to wait and simply hope for the best, get well soon Lucas.

Really does seem like whenever we are going well we get knocked back down straight away! Rafa builds something good, Alonso ****s off, Kenny comes in and gets Torres firing, Torres ****s off, Gerrard comes back scores a great goal gets injured, Lucas is playing world class football gets injured for months (if true) etc etc. Oh well, we've got a great spirit and Jay wont let us down but its frustrating, even loads of neutrals were seeing how good he is now.

I don't think we need to buy anyone. We have players in the squad who can play in there that deserve the opportunity that injuries throw up.

Henderson and Spearing are two candiates.

Could make a case for Gerrard too depending on the opposition.

Hope it isn't true though, Lucas is becoming emence.

If we want to challenge for top 4 we need to have an extremely good DM and even though Jay improved I cannot see him being the solution.

Gerrard is not disciplined enough not Hendo is good defensively to fill in that role until Lucas is back (we don't know how long and how good he'll be after he comes back) and I personally would go and buy another DM.

Even if it's not going to end up as six months, if this is what he fears, then it's obvious a severe injury and he won't be playing anytime soon.

I think that if buy someone, he should be able to perform either role in midfield depending on who he partners. Buying another "pure" DM would then cause a problem for us when Lucas comes back. You should never play two of those in the same team.

Which is why the players I've mentioned could be ideal. They are athletic, strong and can be defensive minded when needed, but they also have the ability to go forward.

Not saying they're as good as him, but both are good enough and with premiership experience. That's the whole point of a squad.

Another body in there wouldnt be a bad thing anyway and I dont think it'd be a panic buy if he is out for 6 months when Gerrard has been injured in various stages for nearly a year now aswell.

Aye. I like Javi Martinez and Banega (prefer them both to Sissoko) as well but I'm afraid they will be very expensive options.

Gueïda Fofana (only 20) would be a great buy imo has he is a young and upcoming player that can play both as a DM and a box-to-box midfielder and wouldn't cost nearly as much.

I think we need a CM anyway, Lucas's injury makes it more urgent.
