Kenny was on record as saying something like "We will look at the results of the scan and then we will choose the surgeon based upon who is best for Lucas"

Maybe the surgeon(s) know(s) Lucas' injury record/body since he was a young player, so they might have a deeper understanding of his 'body career'? I know I like to go back to doctors who know me. :]

I believe more and more football players are having their medical people advice them and carrying out procedures as sometimes what is best for the player is not what is bes for the clib

I didn't think they had doctors and hospitals in Brazil?

Apparently they have very good rehabilitation facilities over there. Here's a picture of the Physio team that'll be working on his recovery.

                Why not in Brazil?

It's not hard to understand why a Brazilian may want to spend his early recovery time after an operation at home rather than three thousand miles away near his place of work. And it's also not hard to understand why the club might agree to it, assuming they feel the care he'll get will be of the same standard.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

                      Yes.

I don't think people are grasping how low Lucas will feel right now. This is nearly as bad as it gets for a footballer.
