I think in general people forget how long it can take players to get back to their level after long injuries. Ramsay and Wilshere at Arsenal would be good examples. We have clearly needed a specialist DM in the squad for backup if nothing else but my feeling is that people are writing off the possibility of a full recovery from Lucas too soon."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Not writing him off.. well not myself anyways. It's a question mark whether he can get back to previous form after such bad injuries. But at the moment we cannot afford to wait for that and need support in there .... because Henderson & Gerrard certainly aren't helping at the moment.Originally posted by dww View PostI think in general people forget how long it can take players to get back to their level after long injuries. There have been times when that is true but I think as id often the case people are basing judgments disproportionately on our last game. I think a combination of things are not helping at the minute (including the formation used and personnel in the wingback positions within that formation). We have had games this season where the midfield has looked very solid and times when it has also looked pretty fluid and capable of providing an attacking platform.Originally posted by danperkins View PostNot writing him off.. well not myself anyways. I do agree that we need another CM to help out. I just think that it is more a problem of getting the right blend and tactics and possibly also of allowing us to rest Gerrard so we can get the best out of him."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
