why does it bother you so much what other fans think? we all know he does a decent job and has raised the bar in recent games.

What are peoples opinions of him compared to Mascherano? Is he at the level Macherano was when the mercenary was playing for us? Or is he above? Or below?

Through gritted teeth I have to say he's not as good as Mascherano yet, imo.

Mascherano was a nutter but I thought other than the odd sending off, he was just as consistent as Lucas.

I think he offers more going forward than Masch, some of the forward passes he played yesterday were quick and accurate

Much of the forward momentum in the 2nd half came from him winning the ball and then getting it forward quickly

Think people tend to underrate Mash's passing. He wasnt right progressive, but he did keep thing ticking over- see the famous Argie goal for example.

I do think it's possible Lucas could develop more there though- given his alleged position when he arrived, he must have some talent for it.

Lucas is developing into potentially a better allround player than Mascher.

Mascher was phenomenal but his range of passing is being exceeded by Lucas, albeit with the occasional mishap.

I personally don't think you can compare them.

I can see some similarities but I can see quite a bit of differences between the two.

Masch, in the role of a distroyer type of DM , is in the league of his own. World class and constant producer that left his heart on the pitch every time..

Lucas, is a different type of DM, and is turning into a world class but imo he's not there just yet.

I agree with that and I believe he has flourished under kenny and has defintely become more forward thinking.

Is Lucas not that too? He apparently completed more tackles than any other player in the top 4 leagues in Europe last season. On top of that, people said they were too similar and that is the reason why Lucas struggled and was not really rated. As soon as Masch went, Lucas became fantastic and got player of the year

Well....he's every reason to I suppose, but perhaps the media will be able to spin it into a Hodgson miracle, implying that Rafa wasn't able to get him playing
Now, Kenny is only reaping the benefits of Roy's brilliance............instead of actually driving Lucas on and on by giving him more responsibility, thus turning him into as good as player as he can be.


On a serious note, I doubt Rafa cares what the media response is to Lucas, only what Liverpool fans think.

Maybe, but it must be noted the vast improvement we have seen from Lucas has happened since Rafa has left.
