After yesterday I'm not sure what he offers that we don't already have covered in the squad. Can Can or Allen not do what Lucas has left in his injury plundered locker just as well?

Saw a story about us being interested in Song yesterday. If we could get him in and Lucas out at Net then it would be ace business.

As backup for Gerrard, probably. He plays that position well, dropping between the centre backs.

I'd be keen to see how Can would do in that role but Allen is definitely better further forward. So I think Lucas is a decent fallback for that role alone if we end up keeping him. I'd be all for Song instead though, he'd offer better cover for more areas.

Yeah, Song in and Lucas out would be great in addition to a new striker. Song can play DM and has the legs to power up the field when necessary -- something Lucas sadly can't do any longer. In his last season with Arsenal Song was displaying some nice offensive chops as well.

I think it's time we say goodbye to Lucas. Whether it be for tactical, fitness, suspension reasons, having Lucas in the squad with Gerrard means there's always the likelihood of the pair making an appearance together.

They have our number. We've done well in the transfer market this summer despite losing one of the world's best players, but I think we'll be seeing Lucas at Melwood again.
Still it could allow him to play more, perhaps back to what he was , and saves some cash in the wages.

I wanted him to be given 1 more season to see if he could come back, but on the other hand I didn't want him playing for us.

I suppose it's win win situation, he seems a good guy & i think Serie A is perfect for his style of play and attributes. Sure for all we know he could have a wonderful season over there & his value could sky rocket.

yeh, it might bump his re-sale but i doubt he will be back at Anfield other than just passing through.
