He didn't really play much last season so we won't miss him, and we've boosted our midfield options with Can and Lallana. He won't get a game.Originally posted by Gazzla View PostNo point in selling, we're going to be playing a lot of games next season and nobody knows how Gerrard will hold up with the increased schedule plus any midfield injury and we're down to the bare bones. Lucas will get plenty of games next year, a very important member of the squad for me and as has been mentioned, we don't want too much of a revolving door unless it's **** like Aspas on the way outBrandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

Good to hear. He was my favourite player at one point. If he can get back to that level it would be of huge benefit to us.Originally posted by danperkins View PostHe was excellent. Not sure whether it was the opposition being so poor or Lucas just having a good game. bit of both maybe

Transfer round-up: Lucas Leiva edges closer to a reunion with Rafa Benitez at Napoli
IAN HERBERT
Saturday 09 August 2014
Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva is hopeful that he will join Napoli, reuniting him with his former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.
The Independent on Sunday understands there are a number of obstacles for the Italian side to clear before the 27-year-old can move to Stadio San Paolo, but the player tweeted an enigmatic picture depicting light at the end of a tunnel.
Napoli are still talking to Manchester United about securing Marouane Fellaini on loan. But Fellaini’s £100,000-a-week United salary is at a level Napoli could not meet, so Leiva seems the more likely signing for Benitez. Lucas is keen to move on from Anfield, where Benitez signed him from Gremio in 2007 but where he started only five matches in this calendar year.
His lack of playing time led to his omission from this summer’s Brazil World Cup squad and he feels he has stagnated. The Brazilian accepts that Steven Gerrard’s transition into a deep-lying midfielder has rendered him redundant.
