Ive seen him talked about like he is the savior who is never picked.

But there must be other reasons he doesn't play much. Fitness, injuries. Something.

And if I recall correctly a lot of his goals last season came in one glut, similar to Meireles. I'm not sure he's as consistently threatening as is suggested.

Mate, Maxi has a career total of something like 120 goals in 400 games. Poles apart from Meireles.

I'm not saying that he's a saviour either, but in a season where we're struggling to score goals (and our £20m left winger has been pony), it seems mad to not give Maxi a chance.

        I didn't say he shouldn't.

              Remember it well.

Can you imagine Downing doing that with his weaker foot

              200 yards over the bar
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The thing is Downing wouldn't even attempt it.

TBH Shaggy I think Downing would struggle doing that on his left foot.

He is a 1 in 4 career goal scorer both at club and international level. He is a far great threat than Downing has ever been.

I remember Joe Cole scoring a similair one for Ingerlund in the same world cup. They might have been anazing for us in 2006.

Basically, he offers a lot more than Downing and has a record of scoring everywhere he has been (unlike Miereles). Comparing his goal record to Miereles' like you did is erronious.

What's interesting is that occasionally, Argentina have used Maxi as a central midfielder, an option never explored here.

Nope. I didn't compare their goal records, I just said they both scored many of their goals last season in a short space of time. I also haven't said he doesn't offer a lot more than downing or that he doesn't have a good scoring record. Apart from that, bang on
