I've said before that I agree he's sometimes painted as a potential saviour, and clearly he is not.

He's just better than Downing and deserved more chances this year.

I think the reason he doesn't play much is Kenny just doesn't rate him.

Nope. I didn't compare their goal records, I just said they both scored many of their goals last season in a short space of time. I also haven't said he doesn't offer a lot more than downing or that he doesn't have a good scoring record. Apart from that, bang on

There was a point in playing Maxi early in this season. After our good start in the league we went a bit downhill.

Then was the time to try Maxi or whoever else. Now, it doesn't matter. Maxi will be gone next year and we can't come top 4. More point in playing Sterling now over Maxi.

Anyhow, Maxi should not have been considered a starter this year. It's the Riise syndrome. He wasn't good enough for us, but people wished we had him back at points in time because his replacements were not performing.

Maxi has not performed for LFC. The only time he has was under Dalglish at the back end of last season. Not good enough and well past his best when he came here. Hence Atletico let us sign him for nothing.

Rafa only signed him in all likelihood because he was skint.

But at least he has performed for this Manager. Which is more than can be said for many other players who are getting more opportunities than Maxi.
