Not here to talk about the spitting, I think everyone has covered that enough, but I'm curious as to why there are a couple of people in this thread that seem to have a dislike for Carra? Why is that?

I like him but had issues with him at the time, he was close to that utter cunt Purslow, ffs, and got that contract out of it - Carragher clearly backed the wrong horse and it was hard to swallow given everything Rafa did for him.Originally posted by fidget View PostResentment over his role in Rafa getting sacked started it for me.
He got an £80k a week contract and we got wubbery woy. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

There is currently a debate about spitting on 5live.
The level of sanctimony is amazing. I think it’s summed up by the fact that guys like Vinnie Jones are commenting, it’s like saying, even Jimmy Saville agreed, spitting is out of order, they are trying to find the biggest cunts they can and then get them to show outrage. Set your tone to shocked, throw in a few disgustings, outraged and feel better about your moral high ground.
It’s clearly reprehensible, that’s not even worth debating. But it feels like people are morally clearing their own decks, uniting over outrage on something, that whilst clearly grim, is not the worst crime anyone can commit. It’s our version of gun control, everyone produces saliva, most of us are capable of sensibly using it and god help anyone who isn’t.
It’s a weird one. Carra will get metaphorically hung drawn and quartered for this. One thing that it was interesting to hear him say was that he will need to consider his own level of sanctimony, and that he would have been all over the subject had it been anyone else. There are lessons to learn here, but I’m not sure they are about spitting.
Interesting to see the family have requested that Carra keeps his job.Modifying post.

Who wants the thread closed? Talksport is utter bile and the only reason I came across this was someone shared the clips of Jones and Barton on my FB feed basically saying the same as me when it comes the people's hypocrisy.Originally posted by dom9 View PostI can't understand why anyone would listen to a radio station they'd want closed down or repeatedly post in a thread they want closed.

Think you have to understand the climate of the club at the timeOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostI like him but had issues with him at the time, he was close to that utter cunt Purslow, ffs, and got that contract out of it - Carragher clearly backed the wrong horse and it was hard to swallow given everything Rafa did for him.
Everything was toxic and had been for sometime
Rafa fighting with chief exec(s), Rafa fighting with owners, Owners fighting with each other and the board trying to oust the owners
This isnt a go at Rafa but when you look back at the time a clean slate was probably best for all. The biggest mistake was letting Purslow be involved in the recruitment process for a new manager
Was interesting to hear Gerrard talking about the Rafa going and Roy arriving on BT the other week. Right time for Rafa to go, but the wrong appointmentBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I can't say I've ever listened to Talksport - it doesn't float my boat. I pity you that you did in this instance.Oh I don't know.

It's bonkers and way OTT. Whilst spitting at someone is of course disgusting, I can say with absolute 100% certainty that I'd prefer to be spat at than punched in the face

Is that actually the gross offense of merging late and expecting everyone to make space for you without taking responsibility and stopping at the merge point for someone to let you in?Originally posted by swishtz View PostI posted because i have been spat at whilst driving for the gross offence of not wanting to crash into a barrier as some selfish **** wouldn't let me get into a lane from one that was closed, who then pulled alongside me and spat through the open passenger window and then onto my windscreen as well as throwing a bottle of water at my car. I don't care about overpaid footballers and their dramas. What exactly is your point ?
Slow the **** down instead of crashing, there's always a bunch of tailgating mofos eager to ram that sort of driving down your throat and leave you hanging. It's all part of the game."that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011

Lets all see who can come up with the most severe punishments and expressions of outrage at news stories to feel superior and massage our consciences rather than have any compassion, understanding, forgiveness or even just a disappointed confused acceptance.

Compassion and understanding seem to be in pretty short supply in todays society. That is a point that requires more debate.Originally posted by BillobShaisley View PostIts very common, it happens here too.

Social media and the internet allow people to fairly anonymously display outrage. The sanctimony is that it is done with impunity, as in we can do so whilst showing nothing of our own n negative traits so we lack any sort of context. We are screaming our outrage into an echo chamber, so nothing progresses.
We do not seem to approach incidents with any level of understanding as to why? This is probably best displayed in the welfare state that we live in. We don't know how to look out for each other anymore.
But the spitting debate was real low level stuff. Its weird what piques the imagination of the masses, and what gets ignored. "I had bad **** happen to me and I didn't gob at anyone" seems to be the level we have got to.Modifying post.
