Thanjk you.

Tricky one this as to lose him would be a shame as he's clearly talented and with Gerrard leaving this summer we could do with keeping our commercially valuable players but the money he wants to allegedly jump to is crazy; how much of a loss on the pitch is he going to be? I don't see him in the irreplaceable bracket, certainly not yet anyway and for the money we'd make on him we could go out and get someone in that's further down the development line and for the same if not less money.
I fully expect there to be a Coutinho saga in the next year. You get use to this at LFC
Both Sterling and Coutinho are talented and inconsistent in equal measure. Come to think of it is any current Liverpool player a consistent performer at a high level?
They're all a bit all over the place performances wise so this debate about huge wages versus mega wages seems a bit premature to me

True they are inconsistent and Sterling has been ****e recently but he is only 20, and we have seen him be absolutely unplayable on times. Coutinho is only 22 and there is a potential world class player there, moment of genius with him.
IMO If we want to progress as a club, these are exactly the type of players we must keep. Selling your best players every season and hoping to get in adequate replacements isn't a good blueprint to win things.
I think it's a pretty smart move by his representatives, wait till the summer, see were we are playing next campaign, if he goes he goes and we get top dollar, we have a lot of talent coming through and many people beleive Jordan Ibe has a lot more potential. All that said, just because his contract has not sorted I am not going to start disliking the lad. I have a feeling it will sort itself out early doors at the close season.

Club already planning for his departure by giving Kent a 4.5 year contract.
I like Kent, unfairly finds himself as understudy to Wilson but a very good player in his own right when not injured. With him and Wilson coming through no fears about Sterling going (if true obviously).
If you were in Sterling's shoes you would wait until the summer aswell. That way he can see where LFC is at & I doubt very much if he wants to play in the Europa League. If he gets a chance to move to a club playing champs league football (and regularly at that), aswell as a big wedge from transfer fee & massive wages..... he'd probably be nuts to turn that down.
And sure if it didn't work out for him, he's so young he could get another huge transfer fee back somewhere else. It's really win, win for him. Once he gets his finger out of his arse and starts playing well again for us until the end of the season... I don't have anything against him doing whatever he wants.

Depends..At LFC he is a guaranteed starter. If he moves to City/Chelsea/Madrid/Bayern, he wont get that.
And the next few years are critical for his development. If he moves somewhere and he flops, he will not be getting another big money move, he will get a middle level premier league player move.He is not at the Bale, Suarez, and Aguero (in his case move to the PL) level when they moved.

Personally I think he'll get better and better. If he goes to City or Arsenal...he'll be a starter for sure. IMO it's one of them. Chelsea he is not a guaranteed starter alright. I can't seeing the lad going abroad.
if he doesnt sign his 100k a week contract and we take it in to the last year....it will have cost him 3.25 million that year in lost wages + Higher bonuses no doubt.
i would play hardball and then offer him 140k in that last year if he has another great season if he doesnt no-one will pay that anyway.

And if he continues to improve, he would likely reject the 'hardball' offer in the last year of his contract and we'd lose his transfer value. I'm not sure it's as simple as you make out.
I think if he doesn't look to sign at the start of the summer we'd be best looking at what potential offers would be out there for him, he has loads of potential and I'd rather not see him leaving but we have to ensure we are in the best situation to start next season well.
Two years left hasn't he? Carry on as we are, sell in January or next summer if he doesn't sign this summer. Still get a decent fee for him then and will have had his services in exchange for his current wage which is pretty low for a player of his ability.
