Is exactly what the club execs will be thinking too. Cash in on Raheem and move on to the next one, Ibe probably. Not sure thats a good approach to be honest. It is for the books alright but not for our chances of success.Originally posted by cream View PostRaheem will be a good player, but there's load of players around like him, we've got a few at the club already. We need better, cash in and get someone with a bit more intelligence.
It's a tough balancing act tbf.

Not that I think we should bend over with regards to his demands, but;
a) He is an integral part of the team.
b) With Gerrard going Sterling will probably be the 'face' of Liverpool and its star player.
c) The person we bring in to replace him will demand big wages and there is no guarantee he will be any good.
d) We have invested a lot of time in training him, minutes on the pitch when he was learning his trade and investment with all the wages we have paid him since he was 15. Selling him would essentially be writing off that investment.
e) He is a top player now and he is only going to get better. It's patently obvious to anyone with eyes there is far more to his game than him simply being a speed merchant ala Lennon.

Maybe people at the club don't think he's worth it, maybe they don't rate him as high as the hype and that is reason they're not bowing to his demands.Originally posted by G View PostIs exactly what the club execs will be thinking too. Just been looking on TLW and come across this. Couldn't have put it better myself.
The jumped up little **** !! he is a kid thats acting like he is some sort of legend ....**** him off abroad for as much as we can get for him and watch him comeback to earth with a mighty bump
Ibe can replace him and he in my opinion is a much better all round player and has the right attitude to become something special at the club.
In that interview he's shown a complete and utter disrespect to Rodgers by moaning about being played out of position. A total nonchalant attitude to the club that have nurtured through youth and senior level. He's praising that Owl cunt whilst simultaneously putting little digs in at Rodgers, cheeky ****.
The most telling moment was -
"Jordan's been thrown in, Lazar's the same age as me, he's bought Lazar SO *then looks at the camera* yeah he's a manager that has faith in a lot of young players but as i said i've got dreams and hopes as well"
That moment right there is him basically admitting that he's leaving.Last edited by Leyton388; 01-04-15, 07:35 PM.

That is just sillyOriginally posted by Norbs View PostMakes you wonder if the club is bodging these contract talks on purpose to get rid of the highest earners still.
This summer we will already be making a £350k/week+ saving from Gerrard, Johnson and Toure's contracts expiring anyway
Nah, Sterling signed his new one in December 2 seasons ago, which was a huge deal for a kid of his age with like 10 games and 1 goal under his belt. Following that he was in & out of the team and form for most of the next 12 months. His first league goal last season was in December. He was pretty good from that point on (as was almost everyone in the team) but I very much doubt the subject of his contract would even have come up for the club until the start of this season.Originally posted by G View PostI know, just relaying what he said. To be fair though, he was clearly becoming a big part of our first team last season, sticking a new one in front of him then wouldn't have been totally ridiculous. He signed his current one as an up and comer, the newer one would be a reflection of how far he'd come in that time and his new status as first choice. Then in a couple more years he'd get top earner status. If we aren't buying top quality but want to produce it instead then there's not much point in that approach if we can't do enough to keep it once we have it. Forever going nowhere.
Just look at his progression with us. (16) £2k (18) £30k (20) £100k (22) ???? (24) ????? I mean crikey, that's not enough for someone?
Imagine what that looks like if we renegotiate even more regularly. Football is crazy, 5yr deals that have to be renegotiated every 18 months to keep some players happy.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

I'm not saying pay him 180 k but paying him 30 k a week while he's our best attacking player is also not fair. But I don't have patience for this so he can eff off.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostThat is just silly
