The £50m man didnt fancy it. He obviously doesnt want to take pens but with no Lampard, Drogba, Mata or Sturridge on the pitch he could have grown a set just this once instead of letting an erratic centre half take one!Originally posted by Lee View PostWhy did Luiz take the penalty?
I didn't see the game. Was it clear that Torres wasn't up for taking it?
Nice "defensive work" on Genk's goal aswell, lazy ****house and when Chelsea were chasing a winner at the end he was nowhere to be seen. He's "back"!

So does this mean that while with LFC he was just on great form and never really had any real class, because all this is contradictory to the long held assertion that 'Form is temporary Class is permanent ?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI said it before and have seen nothing to change my mind. Torres is now ****.

The idea that a professional footballer (let alone a supposedly lethal striker) cannot hit a specific area in a goal mouth from 12 yds out is absurd.
Says everything about the mental toughness of a player more than anything, which is part of then reason I don't believe you can honestly practice them to greater effect (unless its possible to simulate the pressure involved).
He's a bottler, a traitor etc.....so if someone told me he refused/didn't want to be considered to take a peno, I'd easily believe it."I will make the boys feel your support"

Aye, on his debut. Wasn't it the game where we had to get special dispensation from 'Arry Redknapp to play him?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostHe took one for us in a preseason game didnt he? And missed
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I don't recall Ian Rush ever taking penalties either, apart from the 1984 European Cup Final in the shoot out.Originally posted by McDermotX View Post

Yep. Of Rush's 346 goals for us, 3 were penalties and the last one he took was in 1984.
And yep there are plenty of strikers who don't take pens. This latest stuff strikes me as people simply desperate to have a pop at Torres over absolutely anything, regardless of whether it's valid or not. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
