Yeah it was just that i heard yesterday that having talked to us he was still intending to talk to Arsenal, which i know some players do out of respect to all the clubs that are in for them, just seemed a waste of time if he's already decided to come to LFC.

I'm not sure Milner is captain material, not exactly an inspirational chap is he

I've seen Milner take a decent free kick, does he take pens too given we need an SG replacement in that department?

The proper media are tweeting that the deal is all but done and ought to be announced within a week.

I'm hoping captain or not he brings a calm authority similar to that Hyypia appeared to have. Our squad has seemed to be too easily emotionally unbalanced. Most of our players have achieved very little, either because they are young or Joe Allen, and just having another league winner in there should be a boost.

Is the armband the carrot to get him to move to us on a lower salary than he could get elsewhere?

Keep this thread in the off field section until its officially confirmed.

                        Good bit of business though.

                          Tremendous signing

A real step in the right direction IMO.

I think he'll be one signing that actually does what it says on his tin.

Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce they have agreed a deal to sign Manchester City’s James Milner, subject to a medical.

The Reds have agreed personal terms with the England international, who will join the club on a free transfer on July 1 after his contract at the Etihad Stadium has expired.

Milner will arrive at Anfield having lifted two Barclays Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup during his five-year spell with City.

The 29-year-old is also firmly established as a regular for England and has notched 53 caps to date.

Having also represented Leeds United, Newcastle United and Aston Villa, Milner has lined up against Liverpool 24 times in total during the course of his career.

Will be interesting to find out where Rodgers sees him playing.

I know he'll be paid a fortune, but it's still good to see a player moving so they can play regular football.
