Loyalty is few and far between in football these days. Any player that wants to progress as a footballer, will want to play at the highest level & compete for trophies....completely understandable IMO. Naive to think that because "We are LFC" it will be any different. We haven't been considered a top club in a good few years.

We've been a selling club for way too long now. Get's frustrating seeing your best players being sold every season.

So if I've understood that correctly Hendo is saying he's the finished article so should get more money?
So he's saying to the club that he hasn't improved at all this season and that at the age of 25 he doesn't see himself getting better in any way shape or form?

Basically he's admitting he's finished as a player then.

      Strange negotiating tactic that one

That's how I see it. We can't afford to be arrogant and this players want to sign for the shirt. Too much at stake for them.

You would imagine this contract and the next are going to be the ones that see him through his prime years

On that basis its hard to argue that his contract shouldnt reflect that in some way

Out of all the deals this one worries me more

I can understand us being a bit coy with Sterling (who although exciting isnt anywhere near reaching his prime) and arguing against giving Flanno a bumper deal because hes the only scouser in the team

But the argument that Henderson hasnt reached hasnt become integral / finished article is a bit lame (assuming that is the argument)

Brendog will offer him captaincy and the chance to lead LFC back to the summit of English football. City can't offer him that. Give him market wage and there's no way he'd go.

I ****ing love him, guess that's obvious from my avatar. I can see him leading us for a decade and gelling us in the way Rodgers sees his teams

Well looks like we are disagreeing about what is the market wage, that's my point, another club will come in for him and tempt him with an offer if we dont get this done.

It is a bit worrying and I've mentioned it before. It does seem a bit arrogant or slack.

I hope Gerrard's words that 'there's no smoke without fire' when talking about Sterling and Henderson's non-contracts don't end up being prophetic.

He won't leave. He's developed so well under Rodgers. I genuinely feel he loves playing for Liverpool. His determination, enthusiasm and energy rubs off on the whole team. A proper team player and a fine captain.
                          Another MASSIVE game

The main flaw in this is we're just another club to players.

Not a hope of him leaving. Doom merchants on here. He obviously loves Liverpool, and the opportunity to captain us in what looks like very promising years to come with such a young and talented squad? Why the hell would he leave that to play for soulless clubs like City and Chelsea, when he is at one where he is fast becoming a firm favourite and could lead us back to the top of English football? He won't pass it up.

He'll be our captain for the foreseeable.

If a player/captain like Gerrard can be tempted, and only turn away from the darkside due to his attachment to the club, then it's possible.

If it ever cropped up, and he had to make a decision of that nature, i'd say it's 50/50 as to what he'd choose, i think that's a realistic outlook to take rather than a doom filled one.

At the end of the day he's a career footballer, not a boyhood fan of lfc, like others who've ran out on us!
