Henderson seems to be a great organic leader for this young team. Anyone remember the video where Studge and Ibe were challenging for most knowledgable hip hop person? (Maybe if someone could post the video here again).

There was some disagreement on the last answer, and a mock heated argument, before Studge, Ibe and the presenter turned to someone behind the camera to confirm if the artist was correct. I was wondering who it might be Sterling, or some hip hop fan who'd come along.

When the camera panned across it was Henderson sitting on the floor in the corner nodding the answer. And no one questioned it after that. My jaw hit the floor and I couldn't stop laughing. #leader

Henderson knows if he joined a club like City, there is every chance he'll be bench player and there isn't even a guarantee with trophies there at the minute and all the progress he's made here in the past few years will be for nothing as he'll be shipped to QPR when is contract is running low.

Not to mention, Gerrard was disillusioned with the direction the club was heading back then, at least now things are a bit more stable.

The issue isn’t people thinking Henderson or Sterling will sign for the shirt, or for any great love of the club as some have suggested, they will sign because they know it’s the best place for their development (providing we aren’t being completely unreasonable on the wage front).
Yeah i get all that, we think players will make decisions based on how they feel where they are currently playing, and playing well too, but history shows us different when the super wealthy title winning clubs come in.

As i said, players back themselves to do well, i'm not sure he'd be thinking....'oh i wont play games, i'll be on the bench almost every game',... he'd more likely imo be saying...'i can displace Toure, and in any case they probably want rid of him now so happy days for me'.

All i'm saying is, and it's the reason i first posted on the issue, is that i disagree with the view Hendo will definatley sign a new contract with us should a City or Chavski or Barca or Madrid come in for him, i don't see it as being such a cert.

I'm not so sure. Both of them had always stated a desire to play abroad, so it was in their interest to reject the contract offers. Both were right to move IMO.

But I am saying that things are rarely black and white. Opaque at best, even if you're in the thick of it. I agree with what MrM says.

          Anyway, as we were.
I know that things in life are never black and white, I wasn't really saying that was I? I'm saying there is a possibility this isn't going well at the club, it's also possible that it's going well and Ayre is on top of it.
          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I didn't suggest that you were.

This really is my final post on the subject.
            Oh I don't know.

Something can be both black or white and opaque, so Don's point is invalid.

That’s all true of course and hypothetically any of that could happen, sure he left his boyhood club to further his career with us, so would be naive to completely rule out him doing similar again. Realistically though, few, if any of those clubs will be interested in him and although he’ll have faith in his own ability, he’ll be fully aware that sometimes that isn’t enough at certain clubs. That’s why I’m not worried about Henderson, although plenty of footballers in the past have made the mistake of jumping ship, he seems quite level headed, with his wits about him, so I think he’ll be able to see the bigger picture, so am therefore not worried about him not signing a new contract.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Indeed looking back at the blinder played with Suarez in summer 2013, I'd say people aren't really showing the faith in how we operate that is possibly deserved. Does anyone really think FSG are silly enough to let a valuable player walk out for nothing if they can at all help it?

And as we know from many years experience, most rumours are complete ****.

Imo we only have an established problem when a player we wanted to keep actually leaves because of our approach to contracts. Until that point there is no problem at all, and indeed in some cases ie. Sterling where we do have an idea what has been happening, we are doing precisely the right thing and demonstrating sensible financial management by negotiating rather than just giving his agent everything he has asked for

Tbh nor am i at this stage, no one has shown any sort of interest in him that we know of, that might change if he keeps playing as he is though, it may also force the club into a rethink as to how much they think he's worth, which would be a positive if it means he signs sooner rather than later.

I agree that it seemed a strange move but we don't know what sort of pressure Kenny was under(or any manager for that matter) to play the expensive signings that managers make by the owners/ CEO. It SHOULDNT happen but who knows what goes on for sure.

He played there for Sunderland before we bought him, not that weird a decision to play him there.

Suarez caught a bit as well and don't look too enamoured with Dirk.

Instead of the well respected Dirky boy it seemed strange. And to quite a few if I remember correctly, which I seldom do. But I do this time.
