I don't rate Shelvey really, he massively lacks the brains to become a top player imo.

Henderson is just great, his application and attitude is second to none and unlike Jonjo he really does have a footballing mind.

Yeah that's what holds Shelvey back but he's a really good player I think; brave on the ball, backs himself, scores and makes goals....he's capable of running games but he can't do it consistently and/or against the best cos of, like you say, his lack of brains and his tendency to be impetuous. If Shelvey was of the same mindset as Henderson he'd be a top player.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I like Shelvey but Henderson is better. The only attribute that Jonjo can claim to be better is shooting from distance.

Didn't you bet me Shelvey would become world class?

Could well have been Rich C or Richie if you have my problem with the 3 of them.
                3rd place. Worst champions ever.

There was some disagreement on the last answer, and a mock heated argument, before Studge, Ibe and the presenter turned to someone behind the camera to confirm if the artist was correct. I was wondering who it might be Sterling, or some hip hop fan who'd come along.

When the camera panned across it was Henderson sitting on the floor in the corner nodding the answer. And no one questioned it after that. My jaw hit the floor and I couldn't stop laughing. #leader
He's just plummeted in my estimation. Anyone listening to utter **** like "hip hop" (even the ****ing name's annoying) is by any definition a moron

Shelvey had been with us a while & was comfortable in the group as compared to a young guy who's just arrived with a big price tag to live up to. No doubt that it took Hendo a year to find his feet but we bought him for the potential that he'd shown.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is confident that vice-captain Jordan Henderson will commit his future to the club despite delays over a new contract. Henderson, who has 15 months to run on his current deal, was offered an extension in November worth around £80,000 a week, but talks are still ongoing.

The midfielder, who has impressed with a series of commanding displays this season, was named vice-captain in September, and has led the side for the last four matches while Steven Gerrard has been recovering from a hamstring injury.

Gerrard will have a late fitness test before Rodgers decides on whether to restore him for tomorrow’s FA Cup quarter-final at home to Championship side Blackburn.

The manager is sure that 24-year-old Henderson, who signed from Sunderland in 2011, will sign a contract.

Rodgers said: “I know Jordan Henderson wants to be here at Liverpool. I’ve got no qualms about that. We’re trying to build something here, so Jordan knows the importance of his position here within the team. I hope he’s seen how he’s improved as a player in the last two-and-a-half years and he will want to continue with that improvement.

“He’s a boy who’s very happy here. I think it’s a separate thing for his agent and the club to sort out, and I know that’s what they’re looking to do.”

£80,000 a week a little bit low considering he's captain?

edit: Something about this and the Sterling contract situation that doesn't feel right to me, I'm not sure what it is but the manager seems to be being put in awkward positions every week now. FSG being naive in the contract department?

                                He's not captain.

It's a negotiation between the club and the player/agent. A new tv contract worth millions has been announced and the agents are getting the best deal for their clients. These things take time. I really don't see the need to have a go at anyone until the player emptying his locker as we don't know what is going on.
